Does anyone know of an extension that allows the RAM seen by SMSQ/E to be
altered. I want to play around with different memory sizes for SMSQ/E on a
Q60.
Why not use the Tony Tebby idea of ALCHP

eg:
10 new_size = 20:REMark memory size required
20 a=ALCHP(FREE_MEM - new_size)

Don't lose the value of a, as one can then do 'RECHP a' to restore
without reboot.

Thanks but its not quite what I am looking for, I would like to be able to
softreset with an altered total memory seen by SMSQ/E. The gold card and
superGold card had a keyword that did something like that.

Indeed, and so does Minerva (8-)#

When one does a reboot with SMSQ/E image file (using LRESPR), I wonder
whether the following might work:

new_size = 20
a= ALCHP(enough for SMSQ/E)
LBYTES smsq/e,a
b=ALCHP(FREE_MEM - new_size)
CALL a   (or wherever

I very much doubt it though. I think it is a clean boot from then.

No it wouldn't. SMSQ/E takes over and reinitializes everything from
scratch.

No, that won't work.
SMSQ/E checks the available memory.
However, it might be possible to poke a value somewhere before
doing the cCALL - I'll have to check that (this weekend).

Hi Mike, the Compact flash will make great (and v.fast) back-up
devices for the Q60. I have not tried the large sizes above yet as I
have no Q60, all sold :-(

Not the right question: compact flash means compact flash. Smart Media and
Multi Media cards are NOT Compact Flash, they completely different
electrically and physically, and of course do not fit a CF adapter. Of
course, you also missed the fourth 'major' standard, which is Memory Stick.

Only the Compact Flash - but if you have a Compact Flask with some
Tequila in it I would be willing to pop over. To be a bit serious the
other media are physically different.
