I probably won't be back on the computer much until tomorrow evening when we
get back from Columbus, after Frank's surgery.

I'm trying to finish a little purse I'm crocheting for my little great niece,
Arianna.

I'll talk to everyone tomorrow evening, providing that everything goes well.

Please pray for Frank and that we have a save trip there and back.

  Thank you.

  Marilyn

Well, old Mare is feeling better. My back really kicked up this time and
put me out of commission for a few days. I'll have to start going to
Columbus again for those 3 injections. I get them every six months.

I have had several back surgeries, and I know a lot of people say that
wouldn't do that, however, when you lie in bed for 15 days and can't walk,
unless you have the surgery, then you don't have much choice.

Anyway, I'm back and I thank everyone for their nice comments and best

[RecipesAndMore] Re: Hi, Friends, and I'm Back!

2008-06-15 Thread Sandra Warren

Oh, Del, thanks! speaking of things, while I think of it, I was wanting to
find out more about this zenstone product, a recorder with mp3 player, and
not! the one with the digital a.m. f.m. radio which the blind cannot
operate, someone said you have it; can you either share with the list where
to get it, what all it does, and all you can tell me. see, I was considering
very strongly about getting one of those victor stream readers, and yikes,
it is way beyond my budget, so do you have to go to NLS site and put in its
serial number, or how do you register so you can go there to download books?
I'd love to hear more about it, and can you also store your mp3 music files
in there?

Sandy and thanks so much.

[RecipesAndMore] Re: Hi, Friends, and I'm Back!

2008-06-15 Thread Sandra Warren

Hi, Del!
What exactly do you ask for when you want to buy the zenstone mp3 player
that you got and is it expensive and would you say it does as much as the
victor reader stream or whatever the heck it is called? does it have a lot
of room, 2 gigs is a lot; that is the one I would be interested; I tried
office max and Staples and office depot, all to no avail; okay, so I do not
want the one with the digital radio and this one has no recorder? I was
hoping it has a speaker, external speaker, like the Stream, and you also can
use headphones, stereo headphones on it. what is the website, and exactly
what to ask for? I am glad to know wal mart carries it; was just there
yesterday! wish I would have known; so it plugs into the usb port of the
computer to charge? any more help is tremendously appreciated.
Sandy
Does it have a carrying case, and where do you go to download? NLS site?

[RecipesAndMore] Re: Hi, Friends, and I'm Back!

2008-06-15 Thread delma bliss

hi, you can order them online from
www.wal-mart.com
or from
www.outpost.com
whitch is where my two gig came from
i think target also has them
you will need to make sure you get the one with the built in speaker on it
as some 2 gigs dont have a speaker on them
at wall mart they and out post they run aroud $ 40 for the 2 gig
and around 30 for the 1 gig
they are very small
and come in about 8 colors
they have what is called a skin that the player fits into. and a clip that
goes on the skin so you can clip it to you
they have a little about 3 inch cord that comes with it
you plug 1 end into the player
and the other end, into the u s b port on the computer
to charge it,
and to copy music etc to the player
then to delet the files
you plug it back into the pc
and delete them from the player
it takes about 3 hours to charge the player
then it will play 9 to 12 hours on 1 charge
they also come with a little pair of ear buds
but i use the speaker, or just stereo head phones with mine
they will only play mp3's as for as i know
they are about 2 to 3 inches long and about 1 inch high
just ask for the zenstone mp3 player
are the little small zenstone players
and be sure you tell them, that you need the one with the little speaker on
it
or they may give you the other one.
the ones that records are no use to those of us, like me that cant see to
read
as they have a small screen on them
about like on cell phones
and you have to see to open the folders
and to choose what file you want to play
and they do not talk us through them.

say stuff from other libraries or recorded magazines, or say, when you speak

again and the nurse said that she would make a note to the doctor. They
have told me that several times.

I'm very tired since I got up at 4:00 and laid in bed since 2:00 and finally
 got up.

If I told anyone I would call, I'll call you tomorrow.

Thank you for your love, support and please, keep the prayers coming for
 Frank.

 Thank you for caring.

[RecipesAndMore] Re: Hi Friends!

2008-02-17 Thread Sandra Warren
Hi again, Marilyn,
I am praying for Frank's healing and for strength for you. when my husband was
sick, we had days like that. they pounce down on the one closest to them, their
caregiver, and it hurts, but you have to have a hardened shell around you to
bear the brunt. I also know the different meds and anesthetics given him also
can affect thinking and personality. Hope he gets the bed tomorrow for the step
down unit, and that they will order Chantex, and above all, that tomorrow will
be a far far better day for you.

Huge Hugs,

Sandy

  Hi,

Today was not a good day. They waited to see if they would have a bed for
Frank in the step-down unit, but since they wanted a bed that was close to the
nurses' station, there are none available so far. Frank is trying to get up
and he doesn't know where he is.I asked him to drink some Pepsi that the nurse
asked me to bring him and he said Marilyn, don't start on me; get out of my
room. So, I went out and the nurse hugged me and told me that sometimes with
these brain injuries, people hurt the one that they love most. I got control
of myself and went back. Then he thought he was eating spaghetti at our house
and he thought then he could smoke. I have asked several times for them to
give him the patch or Chantix. I mentioned it again and the nurse said that
she would make a note to the doctor. They have told me that several times.

I'm very tired since I got up at 4:00 and laid in bed since 2:00 and finally
got up.

Thank you for your love, support and please, keep the prayers coming for
Frank.

  Thank you for caring.

I didn't go today because we had so much ice but I'll see him tomorrow.

  Please keep praying for him.

  More bad news.

Frank did not get released from the hospital today. The neurosurgeon did a
scan and they found more brain hemorrhage and air in his brain. He is also
very congested and they did a chest x-ray.

I have to call tomorrow morning at 7:30 to see if they will do more brain
surgery tomorrow or Monday.

  Please pray.

  Hi My Good Friends!

Hopefully, tomorrow morning, Frank will be transferred by ambulance to the
Rehab Center that is about 3 minutes away from my apartment.

He will have to have a swallow evaluation, speech therapy and he will have to
learn to walk again. He will, of course, have to gain more strength.

His speech is still very slurred partly due to the seizure meds he is on and
possibly some of it is some brain damage. His neurologist told me this evening
that he could have to be in rehab up to 3 months and that I had to be patient.
He said that Frank would have bad days and good days and today was a very bad
day for him.

I hugged him and kissed him before I left and told him I loved him. I could
understand him when he said he loved me back. I then told him that I would do
anything for him I could and he said he knew that.

I'm sorry if I have repeated myself, but it is hard to remember who I told
what.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers and please keep the prayers coming.

I appreciate my Church Family and all my friend's churches who have put Frank
on their prayer lists.

Thanks to all of you for your support, concern and love.

I got up at 4:00 in the morning, our time, to listen to Princess Dianna when
she got married and I also followed all the funeral. You are correct, she'll
never be forgotten. I thought her youngest son did a wonderful job today when
he spoke. I wish our channels here would have had all of it on TV.

Thanks for all the work you and Delma do it make this list what it is.
