Rascal Flatts have announced their 2009 tour dates with opening act Jessica Simpson. The 20-city itinerary, the final leg of their Bob That Head tour, begins Jan. 17 in Kansas City, Mo., and concludes March 14 in Irvine, Calif. Rascal Flatts released Greatest Hits, Volume 1 on Oct. 28. They are also nominated for group of the year at the CMA Awards, which will be held Wednesday night (Nov. 12) in Nashville. Simpson released her first country album, Do You Know, in September. Toby Keith's Beer for My Horses Now on DVD Tue. November 11.2008 5:40 PM EST Toby Keith's second film, Beer for My Horses, was released Tuesday (Nov. 11) on DVD. Produced jointly by CMT Films and Keith's Show Dog Productions, it also stars Rodney Carrington, Willie Nelson, Claire Forlani (CSI: NY), guitar legend Ted Nugent and veteran actors Barry Corbin and Tom Skerritt. Written by Keith and Carrington, the film centers around small-town deputies and best friends who set out on a road trip to save Keith's girlfriend from drug lord kidnappers. Other new DVD releases include Charlie Daniels' Preachin', Prayin', Singin' (KOCH), as well as Alison Krauss' A Hundred Miles or More: Live From the Tracking Room (Rounder), with special guests Brad Paisley, Tony Rice, James Taylor, John Waite and Union Station. Reba McEntire Signs New Record Deal With the Valory Music Co. Tue. November 11.2008 12:23 PM EST Reba McEntire has exited her longtime record label, MCA Nashville, and signed with the Valory Music Co., sister label to Big Machine Records. The move reunites her with Big Machine and Valory Music president and CEO Scott Borchetta, who secured radio airplay for McEntire's music during the '90s as MCA Nashville's senior president of promotion. While working with Borchetta at MCA, McEntire reportedly had 14 No. 1 singles and sold more than 22 million albums. The Valory imprint was established in November 2007, and its artist roster also includes Jewel, Jimmy Wayne, Emerson Drive and newcomer Justin Moore. Big Machine's roster includes Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram and Trisha Yearwood, among others. McEntire's debut single for Valory will be released in early spring, and her first album for the label is expected in summer 2009. Jewel Helps Kiss Away Domestic Violence Tue. November 11.2008 5:40 PM EST Singer-songwriter Jewel, along with Mary Kay cosmetics and the Country Music Association, unveiled the second annual "A Kiss for Country" promotion on Tuesday morning (Nov. 11) at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. The charitable campaign helps raise money for the prevention and awareness of domestic violence around the country. More than 60 artists, including Jewel, Reba McEntire, George Strait and LeAnn Rimes, kissed, signed and wrote inspirational messages on special Mary Kay prints that are now available for auction. Jewel, who once faced homelessness at 18, said, "I experienced firsthand the fear and vulnerability that a lot of women experience, especially in abusive relationships. ... Domestic violence is a preventable problem -- and it's fixable." The prints can be purchased through uBid.com with 100 percent of the proceeds going towards domestic violence prevention. CMT Films, NASCAR Media Group Produce Ride of Their Lives Tue. November 11.2008 5:40 PM EST Ride of Their Lives, a new film premiering Dec. 13 on CMT, tells the story behind NASCAR through first-person accounts by the people who helped create the history. Produced by CMT Films and NASCAR Media Group, the two-hour film is narrated by Kevin Costner and features new, exclusive interviews with NASCAR drivers Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip. Ride of Their Lives features never-before-seen footage spanning NASCAR's entire history from the archives of NASCAR Media Group, as well as the final interview with Bill France Jr., NASCAR president from 1972-2000 and son of NASCAR founder Bill France. Other drivers spotlighted in the film include Dale Earnhardt, Kyle Petty, Tim Richmond and Wendell Scott. Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood Earn Two People's Choice Nominations Tue. Rascal Flatts' "Take You There," Taylor Swift's "Love Story" and Underwood's "Last Name" are vying for favorite country song. Kenny Chesney and Brad Paisley will compete with R&B artist Chris Brown for favorite male singer. Rascal Flatts also received a nomination in the favorite group category with Coldplay and Maroon 5. Underwood is nominated for favorite female singer with Alicia Keys and Rihanna. The awards will be presented on Jan. 7 in Los Angeles.
