Archos WAV (was Re: A Devcon 2006 Story)

2006-03-21 Thread [IDC]Dragon
I'm especially interested in the first topic on the agenda for the
Archos: PCM codec, recording framewalker, perhaps playback framewalker,
 late bitswap

What's the outcome for this? Can we hope for an implementation of the
PCM codec in the next future?

I've spent pretty much all the non-conferencing time on an experimental
plugin to play WAV files. No success. I'm stuck on a pretty early issue, it
looks like the downloaded MAS code is not working.

 Hi Devcon participants,

it's nice to hear that you had a great time at the Devcon 2006! At least
we could watch this event on the webcam (and see what we missed!)

And what for those who missed the webcam... :-(

A Devcon 2006 Story

2006-03-19 Thread Daniel Stenberg

Hey folks

I just wanted to mention that you guys that didn't manage to come to the
devcon really missed a great event!

Not only did we have a great time socializing and actually meating the persons
behind the nicks and names we've been seeing online for years, we also managed
to discuss and deal with _all_ items on the agenda, and most of them with a
great and at least in my view satisfactory outcome.

I'm absolutely certain that users and other devs will see and appreciate the
outcome from this, not the least in things like the already in-progress work
on a 3.0 release. (Yes, we should do some kind of summary of all the talks
of the agenda items and publish.)

Random Memorable Happenings:

- Christi and Brandon arriving several hours late after a having got off at
the wrong bus stop, taken the subway and gotten off at the wrong station
  etc etc...

- The What are you sinking about commercial

- The massive interest for our webcam on IRC and elsewhere. It help us feel
almost like #rockbox were with us there.

Thanks and credits go to:

- everyone who has donated money to the project, as we used some of
these funds for drinks, snacks and food during the devcon. Please continue
donating for the benefit of the project so that we can continue to support
  and sponsor development-related activities.

- Jens, Jörg, Christi and Brandon for being devoted enough to cross country
  borders to come here.

- Contactor for letting us use the offices that served as a pretty neat
surrounding, with a fine network, webcam, printer, conference room, coffee
machine and even space and sofas for sleeping.

- Haxx donated the shirts. And before asking, we still have not quite decided
on how to proceed with the remainders of the shirts we have. I'm open for
  interesting suggestions.

Some thoughts for Devcon 2007:

- We should probably set a date even earlier than this year to allow people to
plan for devcon even longer in advance.

- We should prepare for the food situation slightly better, at least if we'll
be situated at the same place or in a similar surrounding. We did have
to resort to backup plans several times...

Wow!

 ...and actually meating the persons
Must have been a bloody event :

Can you also talk about the results?
Or will there be an official statement at the wiki?

with regards,
Matthias (aka Massa)

P.S.: I wish I could have joined the party - although I didn't want to become
meat :-)
