Was this the same one with the T-shirts?

Cool - I didn't make the first either, but quite a few of the later
ones, so lots of familiar faces and lots of memories.

I ended up living about 10 minutes down the road from Quedgley, so
occasionally I'll drive past (and even use the supermarket next
door). Never gone back in the pub next door though!

Emulation etc...

Appologies in advance if I'm doing a Roger here but technically,
would it be possible for the raspberry pi to run SimCoupe ... and if
so, what sort of speed when compared to the real machine?

Cheers

I can't even remember having that much hair! :)

It was made with the aim of grabbing stills to digitise to put on the
disk mags of the day. You'll know some of the faces on it. :)

I'd expect the OpenGL SDL version should build and run on it without
any trouble. I'll certainly give it a whirl once I get one.

My only concern is the sound hardware on the board. I think the chipset
supports audio decoding for output over HDMI, but it might only cover
media player type use, and is probably not seen as a sound card. Anyone
know any more?

It should still be possible to add a USB sound device, at the cost of
one USB port. Hopefully not too much extra latency either.

I'd hope it could run at full speed, given it could (just) manage it on
the ARMv5 (well, XScale) chip in my 10 year old Pocket PC device!

I think you may have a beta-tester then if that's the case ...
certainly more interested in getting one if there's a possibility of
emulating SAM and perhaps other machines...

Hope its possible without... I'm really interested in the possibily of
this being a nice little emulation ssytem :)

Perhaps it's possible to emulate a simulated accelerated SAM then :)

It says on the website that it'll be available (from the website) at the
end of Feb. The anticipation reminds me of 1989.

I've still got all mine - for all the bloody use it is. :-)

Was it weird seeing yourself in 1993?

Also count me in on the beta testing ;)

I can't wait for the Pi to surface and have every intention of using it as
an 8bit emulation station, with SIM Coupé top of the list of things to try
on it.

I'm with you on the anticipation thing. I've been pottering about with my
Amiga 4000 this past week and it really takes me back to when computers were
fun. The Pi should be great fun if it lives up to expectations.

Cheers

Although I'd much rather use my Real SIAC - i just don't have space
where I live at the moment - so a unit that's smaller than a 1mb
memory pack really is interesting to me.
