[Samba] Moving Roaming profiles between domains
Hello! I need to migrate a SAMBA server PDC to another. After having installed and configured the new PDC the same way as the old one, I proceeded to move/copy my user profiles. I restored permisions user:group 700, and tried to login: - Login works ok, but my users configuration is lost and gone but not replaced: I mean, Some windows functions stopped to work. Windows acts weir. Is there a correct way to migrate roaming profiles between Samba servers? Should I have migrated my old samba server to the new in a different? Thanks __ ¿Chef por primera vez? I have it at my NETLOGON share [/srv/netlogon] with rwxr-xr-x permissions. I have tried with different filenames (NTConfig.POL, ntconfig.pol, etc...) but none seems to work. just few ideas: 1) try turn on audit on that share (audit is special module for samba, it does not have all the features Windows audit has, but samba will log read events), audit is described very well in Samba Official Howto I have found that my Workstation doesn't even try to read the file NTConfig.pol. It just opens the logon batch file. 2) look at Settings -- Control Panel -- Administration -- Events on a workstation (if You are lucky, You can try to find checked/debug build of userenv.dll, which handles policies and profiles. I was never lucky) I couldn't find anything here. Thanks. I have tried to setup ntconfig.pol with poledit to just one user (root) and one machine(ibm) or to default user and default machine. but nothing changes. Any ideas? [Samba] Disabling Roaming Profiles with logon scripts or policy files?
Is there a way to disable Roaming Profiles on a Computer, with logon scripts or policy files? I have a network with W2K Workstation clients, but we also have a WinXP Pro computer that we must use and cannot install Win2K. I have read that using roaming profiles between different windows versions can cause problems. So I thought i could use login services from my PDC on that computer and avoid using roaming profiles. I can make local profiles for the 2 o 3 people that will be using that computer. Thank you, and excuse my poor English. __ Renovamos el Correo Yahoo! [Samba] Samba over IPX/NetBeui
Hello: Is it possible to run SAMBA over IPX/NetBeui? (I will thank any suggestion) I hava an small LAN of 3 computers, connected to the Internet through a Cable-modem with DHCP (the cablemodem and the computers are all connected to a hub). The CableModem assigns every computer a random public IP adress, but usually from diferent range (ie: 212.78.x.x, 62.57.x.x, etc), so I cannot get SAMBA or NetBIOS over TCP/IP to work. I used to share some files with Windows using NetBios over IPX (and eventually NetBeui), while being connected to the Internet. But now my computer only has Linux installed, and the only way I have find to share files, is to assign manually an IP adress to every computer (192.168.0.x) to get SAMBA working. That's tedious, because I have to do it on every computer. My mid-term/long-term solution is to get a router with a Wireless AP, and switch included. Thanks everybody, and excuse my English. -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba
Re: [Samba] Samba over IPX/NetBeui
I finally managed to make Samba work on my LAN. I only needed to tweak some routes.
