[Samba] Netbios-ns/udp server failing

2003-02-05 Thread Tom Haerens
Hello,

I've installed Samba 2.2.7 on a Solaris8 machine. Everyting is working
well. Except the fact that I get the following message over and over
again:

Inetd[156]: netbios-ns/udp server failing (looping), service terminated.

Can you help me out?
Thanks

Kind Regards,
Tom Haerens.

We can try, but really you need to help us a bit too. Our crystal ball
wore out a long time ago and now we find that we have to guess too much.

So help us out please. How is your samba configured?

Is it running from /etc/inetd.conf (on Solaris that could be a different
path) or as a daemon?

If you are starting samba by running nmbd and smbd as daemons then do make
sure that it can not start through inetd. Ther error message is from inetd
and suggests that 137/udp is already in use, or alternatively that the
path specified in your inetd configuration for nmbd is wrong.
