[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp: Running scenario files without the manager

2015-06-29 Thread Oluwasegun Sogunle
Hi,
Please I am trying to create a set of scenario files to mimic behaviours of
some IMS-based services(such as chat, file sharing, and geolocation exchange).
Is it possible to realise such scenarios on IMS Bench SIPp?Is it possible to
run these scenrarios without using the manager on IMS Bench SIPp?
Thanks!

[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp

2013-04-03 Thread Martin Karlík

Hi all,

I am doing my thesis, Methodology for testing IP Multimedia Subsystem, and I want to use IMS Bench SIPp.I have built an IMS core network (SCSCF, HSS, ICSCF, PCSCF). I have added subscribers in HSS. I configured IP of SUT as IP of my PCSCF (192.168.1.31)  and manager and TS is running on same pc (localhost). I configured my bench mark using ims_bench.pl. But when I run the script (../manager -f manager.xml) and press e key, only I see

Waiting for all SIPp agents to connect...(0 so far)and I do not know where is
problem, PLEASE HELP ME.

Best regards

[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp - configuring for multiple IP addresses

2012-08-07 Thread Richard Good
Hi

I have simple IMS bench scenario - I want to use 2 Test Systems to test
basic registration and calling against a SUT IMS implementation.

To be realistic I want to distribute the users onto many IP addresses (1 IP
per user) within the same SIPp instance.

I see from the IMS Bench Introduction and Reference Documentation that this
is possible and the reference documentation explains how to configure
virtuals IPs in the OS.

But I can not find anywhere in the documentation or the mailing list how to
configure the Test System SIPp instances and the IMS Bench manager to use
multiple IP addresses per user for the tests.

Does anyhow know how to configure this?

Regards
Richard.

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp - Retrieving a variable from a running scenario

2011-12-03 Thread Firstname Lastname

Hi there,

I rechecked this bug and it seems sipp crashes with user-variables
using client/server scenarios:

1. Client scenario starts and initiates server-scenario via sendRmt (user is
put into unique pool)
2. Server waits some time
3. Client saves something in user-variable
4. Server gets user with user-variable via assign_user

Using two independent scenarios everything works fine and the variable can be
retrieved.

Hi,

I tried it resulting in a crash of sipp. I made a debug it and this seems
to occur in call.cpp in call::executeAction, perhabs when moving the user
to a different pool. I assume it's critical to assign a user more than one time
in different scenarios when both are running simultaniously.

I
don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work. It is very similar to the
usage of user variables that is done in the default IMS scenario files
to store the
Service-Route value received in the registration and use it for other
subsequent scenarios. Update of the user variable value should be
immediate iirc.
Have you already tried this?

[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp - wrong scenarios loaded by TS, IHS is 100%

2011-10-11 Thread Fistname Lastname

Hi!

I just set up 3 Server with a Manager, Test-System and a System under Test with
the
Standard-cmpliant Scenarios. Everything works fine until I start the Scenarios
via pressing 'e':
instead of the register-scenario (for preregister) the Test-system SIPp instance
takes the reregister-scenario leading in 100% IHS. I already checked the
manager.xml.
It seems that always the first scenario form the manager.xml is taken (I
checked this
by switching the order)

configuration
..
scenario name=ims_rereg max_ihs=0.1/
scenario name=ims_reg max_ihs=0.1/
scenario name=ims_uac max_ihs=0.1/
..
/configuration

I recompiled every-SIPP distribution on every Host (Manager: gcc version 4.5.4,
all other: gcc version 4.3.2). This seems to be a very strange bug xX

[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp : Error UDP port over 52000 : errno 98 (Address already in use)

2011-01-03 Thread sougata pal
Dear All ,

I have got stucked in this error which is not letting my test systems start
up and register users.I have got 2 virtual ip's (TS1 and TS2) , who will be
generating the load of 5 users each.I have updated /etc/limits.conf with
the values mentioned in the site. I have run the ims_bench.pl script which
has generated both the .sh scripts. I am running one IP address per one
SIPp instance.

Now when am running both the scripts (run_1.sh and run_2.sh for TS1 and TS2)
am getting this error 98 address already in use.

My run_1.sh looks like this ,

./sipp -id 1 -i TS1 -user_inf ./ims_users_1.inf -rmctrl manager
IP:5000http://10.80.4.245:5000/ SUT
IP:5060 http://10.80.4.244:5060/ -trace_err -trace_cpumem -trace_scen
-trace_retrans $*

As i am testing IMS Bench SIPp along with OpenIMSCore, so am running
OpenIMSCore at my SUT after updating it's database with 1,00,000 users.

Any help on this issue will be much of help for me ,

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp : Password Issue in TS preparing

2010-12-13 Thread sougata pal
Dear All ,

Some interesting thing in this situation that i have discovered in this
process which i would like to share with you all.

I can't connect via ssh both the virtual IP's when i am being in root. But i
can connect via SSH with both the virtual TS's IP's which are 10.80.4.246
and 10.80.4.247 respectively by being normal user. When it asks for password
i simply enter my machine login password and i can easily connect.

Now when i am going to do the same being normal user but not sudo , i mean
start the prepare.sh script and preparing the TS1 and TS2 , i am getting one
error as sudo: no tty present and no askpass programme specified.

Now my question is can i get connected by being normal user or i do have to
do that by being SUDO? To get rid if this no tty error do i need to change
the sudoers file in etc?

Any reply on this issue ,

Regards,

Sougata

preparing both the TEST SYSTEMS having virtual IP's inside the same machine

I am trying to follow this blog ,

very next thing it's asking for is the password for this machine , which
 doesn't exist at all.

 How to solve this issue?
Will be eagerly waiting for any kind reply ,

You must set up passwordless SSH using pre-shared keys for example.
Google for it, there are plenty of howtos that explain how to do this. For
 example http://www.vineetmanohar.com/2009/07/howto-ssh-without-password/.

It is a very common Unix configuration task.

 Dear Sir ,

Sorry for asking you directly , but can you kindly suggest how to solve
this password issue. Both the TS's are logically present , having virtual

I am trying to enter my user account password for the machine but it's not

 Dear All ,

I guess i have done some mistake while preparing the TS's 1 and 2.
When i started the benchmark execution , it started in a proper way and all
 went smoothly.
In the console came the results as -

*All files necessary to execute the benchmark have been copied or created
 into
 './ims_bench_0' directory.

The current configuration has also been saved under
 './ims_bench_0/ims_bench.xml'.
You may later prepare a new benchmark configuration based on this one by
 running
  ./scripts/ims_bench.pl ./ims_bench_0/ims_bench.xml

To prepare the Test Systems (TS) for benchmark execution
 1. Make sure all the TSs have the necessary authentication keys set up so
SSH sessions can be opened from this host without requiring a password
to be entered.
 2. Check that all TSs have the prerequisite software installed to run the
 IMS
Bench SIPp (for example GSL library). See the installation instructions
 in
the documentation for more details on this.
 3. Change to './ims_bench_0' directory
 cd ./ims_bench_0
 4. Copy the necessary files onto all the TSs by executing
 ./prepare.sh*

Now when i started the prepare.sh script , i am getting this

 *r...@sougata-desktop:/home/sougata/ims_bench/ims_bench_0# ./prepare.sh
 Preparing TS1 (10.80.4.246) ...
The authenticity of host '10.80.4.246 (10.80.4.246)' can't be established.
 RSA key fingerprint is 01:b0:c9:f7:fe:9f:29:d3:d5:11:3b:4e:0e:bb:51:ce.
Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes
Warning: Permanently added '10.80.4.246' (RSA) to the list of known hosts.
 r...@10.80.4.246's password:*

And when i try to enter the generated RSA Key fingerprint it's saying me
 Write Failed : Broken Pipe

The mistake i guess i have made is that i didn't set the SSH sessions

In Linux, i try so many times but finally, i must give the absolute path

Anyway, this is clearly related to the directory you are in when you run
the script and how you run it. As it says in the error reported, it looks
for scen/scenario_name.xml. The scen directory should be located in your
base project dir (/home/sougata/ims_bench) and hence, you should be running
the script from there. For example:

 cd /home/sougata/ims_bench

 ./scripts/ims_bench.pl

The script will create a directory called ims_bench_xy with the generated
 files.

2010-12-03 Thread Verbeiren, David
I guess most people would have read the reported error, looked at their
installed directory structure and so would have figured out how to solve the
problem. And if not, they would have looked into the perl script at the line
where the error is reported and then would have figured it out.

Anyway, this is clearly related to the directory you are in when you run the

scen/scenario_name.xml. The scen directory should be located in your base
project dir (/home/sougata/ims_bench) and hence, you should be running the

cd /home/sougata/ims_bench
./scripts/ims_bench.pl

The script will create a directory called ims_bench_xy with the generated
files.

[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp : Query on OutputPath/BasePath

2010-11-24 Thread sougata pal
Dear All ,

I am having some doubts on one issue, while configuring all the steps from
the Benchmark Configuration Main Menu.

When i go to the list and specially to the sub menu , OPTIONS ,

In OPTIONS , i find 2 points -

a. OutputPath
b. Basepath

a. This outputpath shows Path where a directory containing all the files
necessary for benchmark execution will be created .

Now ims bench sipp is installed in my pc at /home/sougata/ims_bench . I
wanted to have a folder created in this specific ims_bench folder. so i have
mentioned the same above mentioned link as the outputpath. I hope i have
done it right.

b. The basepath says Path relative to the target path (one directory level
below OutputPath), to the IMS Bench SIPp installation.Execution scripts
expect to find the the SIPp binary at this location

This thing i am not getting what path to set up as the base path.

Will be eagerly any reply on these 2 issues ,

Regards ,

Sougata

[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp : Query on Test System Configuration

2010-11-19 Thread sougata pal
Hello All ,

I have an urgent query regarding this Test System set-up.
After running the script ./ims_bench.pl in the scripts folder, when ever i
am going to exit by changing some values of the already pre-defined values,
every time i am getting the message You must define atleast one Test System
Instance. Now i don't understand how to do this.

I understand i have to define the test system IP along with the 2 virtual
IP's that i will use for the 2 SIPp load generators , but i don't see
anything by which to do this.

Can anyone kindly tell me in this issue , who to approach.

Regards ,

So I googled it.

What are you all using it for?

I use Empirix Hammer and SIPp, I may use SIPr in the future.

[Sipp-users] IMS bench SIPp - pause problem

2009-05-06 Thread David Jardin
Hi everyone,
I'm using IMS Bench SIPp and I got a problem with the pause statement.

My scenario is :

REGISTER --
401 --
REGISTER --
200 --

label id=1/

PAUSE[30.0s]
OPTIONS --
200 --

go to label 1

As you can see, I simply want to register an user and send a keep-alive
every 30 seconds after he has been registered on an Asterisk Server.
The loop works correctly but even if SIPp understands I want a 30s-long
pause, I see with Wireshark that the OPTIONS messages are sent every 4
seconds instead of 30.

I looked to the manager.xml file, to my scenario, I set the manager in
verbose debug mode (-v 2) and even activated some debug options by
decommenting lines in screen.hpp but it doesn't help me.

Any idea?

Thank you,
Best regards,

[Sipp-users] IMS bench sipp faster pre-registration?

2008-12-03 Thread John Barry

Hello,

I was wondering if someone have any tip for pre-registering users in a faster
way other than using a IMS bench SIPp pre-registation run. For example, I am
testing Open IMS Core, and pre-registering around 30,000 users take around 20
minutes. I am planning to test with more users (2 millions) which will make the
pre-registration quite long. It is an alternative way to do this? Maybe
dumping the mysql database when the users are already register and reuse it?

Thanks,
JB

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPP IHS reports

2008-11-14 Thread rdmurray
I figured out what is going on here. The sipp csv file records the
result code for each call, and records the time the call was _initiated_.
The report sorts the call data by start time before generating the graph.
Therefore calls that run long and then fail get reported as an IHS earlier
in the graph than they do in the manager log (where they show up when
the call _ends_). Part of the confusion (but only part) is because I
was using very short steps while testing the benchmark system.

On Tue, 4 Nov 2008 at 10:52, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
I've got my modified benchmark pretty much running. There are anomalies
I'm trying to understand though. Here's one:

The report that is generated shows an exponentially increasing IHS
percentage during the course of the test. However, in the manager log
I see zero IHS percentage until the last step. I've also turned on
tracing, and the very first time that a call results in anything other
than success occurs during the final step. All previous calls during all
previous steps end with success according to SIPP (result code 0x1...the
first failure is result code 0x13).

So, what is the report using to calculate the IHS? What does the non-zero
percentage in the earlier steps mean?

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp Issue (pool id[0] is empty)

2008-08-13 Thread Verbeiren, David
If you are using the default scenarios, pool id 0 is the one holding the not
registered users. Those are then used to perform the registration scenario.

Since only registered users can be used to execute de-register or calling
scenarios, there is a need to have a bunch users registered before the actual
test starts. This is a pre-registration phase that the config script generated
based on your input. And you happen to have specified that 50 users should be
pre-registered with the network: manager.xml

!-- Pre-Registration Phase --

run cps=100 max_calls=50 distribution=constant ...

But you only defined two users in ims_users_1.inf. Hence it runs out of users
to pre-register.

You should adapt the size of your list of users to the other parameters.

Hope I'm making myself clear.

-David

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS bench SIPp: problem with cpumem

2008-05-07 Thread Tomasz Radziszewski
Hi Philippe

My responses are inline

 Hi Tomasz,
I don't think it's related to cpum changes (it's another executable).
I also recompiled sipp and manager, not only cpum, with these changes, because
the CPU usage on the sipp host was also wrongly measured (always 100%). And
on the CPU host I don't run CPUM - its obviously the manager that measures
CPU here.

Yesterday evening I reverted to original sipp and re-ran the test and it went
normally without freezing. Earlier I ran it two times with the systemstats.*
changes and it froze these two times.

How much users are you using per instance ?
6000

Are you saturating the TCP interface ? (even if it doesn't seems to be a
high CPS)... Can you also check the cpu utilisation on the sipp/manager
 side? (ex: using top)
No. I have ran much heavier load on the same environment before. The CPU
utilization on the sipp host was below 20% (there was not only manager and
sipp, but also a java program)

The message means that we have prepared calls 2 seconds upfront
(PrepOffset), and once it's supposed to be really executed; we don't
have calls in the SYNC (=ready) state.
One way to debug it is to start sipp instances manually (not in
background), so you can check the screen and get more detailed
 information about the calls states.
I was running it in foreground. Unfortunately I don't have the screen any
more, but I don't remember anything strange there. There were some calls
started and some of them finished. Generally looked like normally running
sipp except for the fact that it was not updating its screen. It happened
after several minutes from starting the test. At the beginning it was fine.

The issue is not very important, because I can use the original sipp/manager
which measures 100% cpu on the sipp host, because the CPU usage on the SUT
was always the critical factor in my system, not the CPU on the sipp. And the
SUT is measured with cpum, which does not cause any problems after
introducing your changes.

Best regards

Subject: [Sipp-users] IMS bench SIPp: problem with cpumem

Hi

I have a problem with cpumem (cpum, the cpu/memory monitoring tool of
IMS
bench SIPp). On one of my machines, cpum is showing 100% CPU usage,
while top
and vmstat show below 10% (and this seems true, not 100%). It is strange
that
the problem started after I was using cpumem on this machine for several
days
and it was working correctly.

Restarting cpum doesn't help. However, cpum running on another machine
with
the same hardware and software configuration shows CPU usage correctly.

How could I debug this? Or is it a known problem?

My platform:

2 x Dual Core Xeon (total 4 cores)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 4)
2.6.9-42.ELsmp i686

I use IMS bench from SVN rev. 446. I compiled it on the machine where I
am
running it.

Hi Tomasz,
I don't think it's related to cpum changes (it's another executable).

How much users are you using per instance ?
Are you saturating the TCP interface ? (even if it doesn't seems to be a
high CPS)... Can you also check the cpu utilisation on the sipp/manager
side? (ex: using top)

The message means that we have prepared calls 2 seconds upfront

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS bench SIPp - multiple SUTs support

2008-04-29 Thread Verbeiren, David
Tomasz,

The assumption was that the SUT was exposing a single IP address like it
would be the case with a load balancer in front of your multiple
application servers.

Code changes are required for IMS Bench SIPp to behave the way you are
trying to use it. It might be pretty simple though: I would suggest you
look at sudp.cpp (UDP socket) and do something along the following
lines: When the first SIP message of an expected call arrives, set the
call-m_DstAddr to the address the UDP message was received from. You
could also do it every time a message is received but that would
probably be overkill (unless you expect a call to move from one SUT to
another SUT in the middle of the scenario).

void CSipUspSocket::HandleEvent(int evtype)
{
  ...
  if (!call_ptr) {
char* ptr = strstr(msg, From:;
if (ptr) {
call_ptr = CheckExpectedCall(ptr, call_id);
if (call_ptr) {
- call_ptr-SetDestAddr(m_RcvAddr,
m_RcvAddrSize);
}
}
  ...
}

And in call.hpp, implement SetDestAddr():

class call {
public:
...
void SetDestAddr(SockAddrStorage* dstAddr, socklen_t addrSz) {
memcpy(m_DstAddr, dstAddr, addrSz);
}
...
};

Hope this helps,
-David

Is it correct? Or will it have some side effects?

 Kind regards

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS bench SIPp: uas ignores message (user matching problem?)

2008-04-25 Thread Verbeiren, David
Hi Tomasz,

The issue is that, because you are not registering users, the SUT
doesn't know to which port to forward the call. And since each user
listens on a different port, the UAS user does not receive the call.

We have had this case already (testing app servers like you are) and
have a solution for it. We should have included it in the SVN snapshot
but because we had no time to clean up the implementation, we never got
to do that.
Anyway, I will describe here the solution, with its little dirty
aspect...

The solution consists in passing the UAS user port to the UAC scenario
as part of the user reservation procedure, in addition to the user name
and domain so that the UAC can target user@domain/IP:port instead
of relying on a registrar that's not there.

At the UAS side, you need to return the port that the user is listening
on. There is no port parameter in the res_user message but, as a
workaround, you can pass it in the call_id parameter:
  sendRmt type=res_user crlf=true
param name=user_name value=[field0]/
param name=user_domain value=[field1]/
param name=call_id value=[local_port]/
  /sendRmt

At the UAC side, when the user reservation is confirmed by UAS, you need
to store the port of the UAS side user in a variable (var 3) and use it
in subsequent INVITE and other messages ([$3]):

  recvRmt type=res_user timeout=8000
!-- When we get the response from the partner SIPp, we store the
remote user URI in call --
!-- variables for later usage in the scenario (as 'To' user).
--
action
  store_param param=user_name assign_to=1 /
  store_param param=user_domain assign_to=2 /
  store_param param=call_id assign_to=3 /
  move_user pool=0/
/action
  /recvRmt

  ...

  send retrans=500 start_rtd=1,2 !-- Start timer 1 and 2 --

Hi David,

I am sending an archive, containing the logs, Wireshark capture and ims
bench
configuration.

The system is as follows

172.17.38.205 - manager and sipp
172.17.38.158 - load balancer
172.17.39.74 - SUT1
172.17.39.86 - SUT2

SIPp sends messages to load balancer, which distributes them among SUT1
and
SUT2. The SUTs send messages to SIPp directly, not through load
balancer.

In the Wireshark capture, you can for example look at packets no. 1 and
5.

Packet 1 is from SIPp (uac) to load balancer.
Packet 5 is from SUT1 to SIPp (uas) and is ignored by the SIPp.

Wireshark was running on the SIPp host. Communication from load balancer
to
SUTs is not visible, but hopefully not relevant to debugging the
problem.

 Hi Tomasz,

Could you turn on more debugging by modifying screen.h and rebuilding
SIPp. You can turn on debugging for specific functional areas by
uncommenting the screendebuginfo for the corresponding macros (after
 #ifdef FORCE_LOGGING in screen.h). For example:
 #define DBGINFO_SCEN(X)   screendebuginfo X
 #define DBGINFO_ACT(X)screendebuginfo X
 #define DBGINFO_CALL(X)   screendebuginfo X
 #define DBGINFO_CALL_MSG(X)   screendebuginfo X
 #define DBGINFO_SOCK(X)   screendebuginfo X
 #define DBGINFO_REM(X)screendebuginfo X
 #define DBGINFO_RMT(X)screendebuginfo X
 #define DBGINFO_SIPP(X)   screendebuginfo X

Or just all of them since you are currently debugging your call flow
without putting any load on the system.

You will then get a lot more output in the sipp log files. Could you
send this log file? Also, a network capture could help.

 -David

I've seen on Wireshark that the INVITEs are really sent to the UAS sipp
address/port. What can be the cause of ignoring them? Could it be related to
the user reservation mechanism? The From header after going though my SUT
is the same as original From, except the tag. Can the tag be problem?

[Sipp-users] IMS bench SIPp - Exception at sipp.cpp:2093 and listening problem

2008-04-21 Thread Tomasz Radziszewski
Hi

I've just installed the IMS bench SIPp (svn checkout from rev. 446) and I try
to use it just as normal SIPp (without manager). I get two problems:

1. When I try to run the uac built-in scenario and I got the following error
log:

sipp: The following events occured:
2008-04-21 14:57:04.599: Created CConsole 0x8b6a5c8.
2008-04-21 14:57:04.698: call_socket=0 sock=6.
2008-04-21 14:57:04.699: Exception at sipp.cpp:2093.
2008-04-21 14:57:04.699: Using old method !!!, errno = 22 (Invalid argument).
2008-04-21 14:57:04.699: Too many exceptions - Leaving!.
2008-04-21 14:57:04.703: final cleanup.

The exact command line to run SIPp was:
sipp -sn uac -m 1 -p 5091 -mp 4488 -rsa 172.17.38.128:5060 172.17.38.205:5092

The error appears immediately after starting SIPp (SIPp prints a message
about too many exceptions and exits and the log contains the text above).

2. When I run the uas scenario, it doesn't react to incoming messages. I tried
the following command lines to start SIPp:

sipp -sn uas -p 5092
sipp -sn uas -i 172.17.38.205 -p 5092

(172.17.38.205 is the host on which I run SIPp)

lsof command shows that SIPp is listening on the specified port:
sipp32357 test6u IPv4 185519 UDP 172.17.38.205:5092

My platform is:
Celeron (single CPU)
CentOS release 4.4 (Final)
uname -a: Linux server06.ericpol.int 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL #1 Tue Feb 27 09:24:42
EST 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

I've compiled IMS bench SIPp from sources.

Is it generally means that IMS bench SIPp should be usable the way as normal
SIPp was (without manager)? The reason I need this is to make some simple
test before running the actual performance test using the full functionality
of IMS bench SIPp.

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS bench SIPp - Exception at sipp.cpp:2093 andlistening problem

2008-04-21 Thread Verbeiren, David
Hi Thomasz,

The IMS Bench SIPp branch is targeted specifically towards executing a
SIP benchmark and the use of the manager is mandatory in the current
state of the code. It should not be very difficult to restore operation
in a standalone classical SIPp way within the same code base but no
effort was done to achieve this.

What you can do to start with simple tests is to use a single scenario
in the configuration.

[Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp - Max users/ports problem

2008-02-20 Thread piekkola

Hi,

I ran some tests with the IMS Bench SIPp. Everything went fine until
suddenly my test ended because the user pool got empty. I figured out
that the default user base of 24 000 users just isn't enough to exhaust
my SUT, so I made a new user base consisting of 100 000 provisioned
users.

Now I can't even register my Test System. SIPp gives this error:
UDP port over 52000 !, errno = 98 (Address already in use).

I've set the limits.conf file according to the installation
instructions...

I also tried to add some virtual IP addresses (if that is the solution to
my problem), but I could get them working with the benchmark. How do I
tell the Test Systems or the Manager to use these multiple addresses?
(SIPp didn't seem to recognize the -user_ip option at all and the
-ip_field option didn't work for me either).

I would really appreciate if someone could help me. Thanks for advance!

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp - Max users/ports problem

2008-02-20 Thread Verbeiren, David
Hi Kare,

The limitation comes from the number of ports. This is because each user gets
assigned to a port. The way to overcome the limitation is indeed to use more IP
addresses (physical or virtual). In this case, you must run one SIPp instance
per IP address and use the -i ip_addr command line option thereby assigning
one of the IP addresses to each SIPp instance. This then needs to be combined
with the -id instance_id option.

Note that this is all automatically generated for you if you use the ims_bench
configuration script and specify a list of test systems corresponding to the
list of IP addresses you allocate.

Hope this helps.

Re: [Sipp-users] IMS Bench SIPp - doReport.pl error

2008-02-07 Thread Lecluse, Philippe
Hi Kare,

You shouldn't call doReport.pl -i manager.xml as all the manager
information has been already integrated in the report.xml.

The -i option is used to add to the report an appendix containing the
IMS Bench parameters used in the ims_bench.pl script.

So, if you used the ims_bench.pl script, use do_report.pl -i
ims_bench.xml.
If you did not use the ims_bench.pl to generate the test configuration
(and configured the tool manually), then use do_report.pl

More information here:
http://sipp.sourceforge.net/ims_bench/reference.html#Executing+doReport.
pl

For the GnuPlot warning:
*** X11 output driver not found, switching to dumb terminal!
*** If you want to use the X11 output, please install the gnuplot-x11
package.
The work around is to rebuild gnuplot with: ./configure --without-x

Regards,
Philippe

Oh, I must have misunderstood something. Well the do_report.pl
command seems to work just perfectly. Thank you very much!
