I saw an Icon at a recent club contest get its nose stuck in hard and fast
(and I mean 'cringe-like-you've-been-kicked-in-the-pins' hard) from about 2
feet up repeatedly with no apparent damage.

Forgive my ignorance here, but is this the typical landing for these
competitions?  Looking at the pictures at the above link it appears
it's not too uncommon.

How well do these planes take this type of abuse?

Seems like an awfully expensive lawn dart!  :)
