... and don't forget the ongoing HPSDR (High Performance SDR) project that can
be found at http://openhpsdr.org/

Though some of the original hardware is no longer available from TAPR
replacement hardware is available from Gerd Loch DJ8AY et al.

Please note that the receiver in this project is NOT based on QSD but DDC -
Digital Down Conversion i.e. there is a high speed A/D converter at the antenna
socket. This way there is no problem with sound cards and phase differences in
the I/Q paths as the signal is all digital from the ADC onward. It uses the
same software as the excellent Flex-Radio kit.

The transmitter is a DUC - Digital Up Converter. So the signal path is digital
all the way to the D/A converter then analogue for amplification.

HOWEVER - this kit is not cheap. It is considerably more expensive than the
Elektor and LD-1A units but, regardless of G8VOI's protestation to the
contrary, it probably out performs most commercially available amateur
equipment. viz the digital filters have vertical sides and are near infinitely
variable in width etc.. Don't ask me to quote specs because I can't. Do the
research yourselves.

Cheers
