Re: sports science and exercise science

Hiroshi-

You can view exercise science as the body's
responses to exercise stress-be it in a clinical sense
(looking at diabetes, cardiac patients, osteoporosis,
asthma) to general fitness (lifestyle fitness for
disease prevention and quality of life) to the other
end of the spectrum-elite athletic performance
(looking to optimize training and stress adaptations
to training modalites). Whereas sport science is
more specific to athletic and elite performance
adaptations. Basically-Exercise Science is the
umbrella that houses more specific aspects like Sport
Science. (I state this as an American living in a
European influenced country.)

hi, my name is hiroshi akima, Ph.D., emailing from
 japan. I want to know
the difference of meaning between sports science
 and exercise science.

For example, EMG activity of thigh muscles during
 competitive cycling, I
think this is sports science study. how about this
 example, EMG activity of
thigh muscles during isokinetic knee extension
 exercise, this is exercise
science study, because isokinetic knee extension is
 not sports but
 exercise.

What is the difference in meaning of two words, i.e.
 sports science and
exercise science, among native english speakers.
 Furthermore, I feel sports
science is frequently used in the Europe than the US
 and exercise science is
frequently used in the US than the Europe.

Anyone knows well about that, please response.
 Thanks!!!
