Hello,
I spent some time figuring out which options to use with s2ram for my
laptop, and thought the results may be of use to you guys.
I am running suse linux enterprise desktop 10.0 with all current updates
installed as of today. I am not sure exactly which version of powersaved
this entails. I do not have the -m option on s2ram, so I am assuming it is
not the latest version. I tried the following combinations with frambuffer
powersaved is a different issue, but the suspend package in SLED10 is not
the latest available.
You can try the suspend rpm from openSUSE 10.2 beta, which _should_ work
on SLED10 also, but i'm not sure about the implications on support, so
use at your own risk :-) It is available from here:
http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/suse/i586/suspend-0.20.20061106-5.i586.rpm
enabled, and with vga=0 at boot.: -a1; -a2; -a3; -s; -p; -a1 -s; -a1 -p; -a2
-s; -a2 -p; -a3 -s; -a3 -p. None would work with frambuffer enbled.
The following combinations are the only that worked...
vga=0 at boot and
-s
-p
-a2 -s
-a2 -p
-p -s also did not work? strange...
What type of video card does this machine have? ISTR that it has an intel
integrated graphics, for which -p -m or -p -s are usually the best options
on machines, where -a X is not available.
Here is the output of s2ram -i:
This machine can be identified by:
sys_vendor = Dell Inc.
sys_product = ME051
sys_version =
bios_version = A08
Hope it helps.
The interesting thing about this is, that we already have this machine listed
in the whitelist:
/* Dell inspiron 1300, Tim Dijkstra [EMAIL PROTECTED] */
{ Dell Inc., ME051 *, , , 0 },
Which seems to suggest, that this machine did not need any options for Tim.
Did you try a plain s2ram -f, without any other options?
If the framebuffer is really a problem, it might of course be that Tim just
never tried it with a framebuffer driver.
Thank you all for all of your hard work,
Thanks for testing.
