By my opinion, distillation with low pressure can save energy.
There is no need to heat all water, and there is no need to
waste water for cooling.
If evaporation takes place at, let's say 35oC, there is difference
of temperature of 15-20oC.
In those conditions one can use thermal pump (like
refrigerator) to re-use heat from condenser to heat
unevaporated alocohol again.
There is need for some energy for pump and for small source
of heat and that is all.
I would to know if anyone tried this before.
In any case, I would most grateful for data about evaporation
temperature of alcohol depending of pressure.
