Obviously humor for targeted audience and posting to his list may
have been off target. Beyond that I'm unsure if, Iran still closed
off is any more or any less callous than, Massachusetts executes last
remaining conservative. Oh well, it's nothing I would forward on, no
matter how many times I receive it.

New Zealand still closed off; physicists estimate it will take at
least 10 more years before radioactivity decreases to safe levels.

Or the UK, Ireland, the Cape of Good Hope, or wherever it is that you
 call home?

That's not humour, IMHO, not even black humour, it's sheer mindless
callousness on quite a breathtaking scale.

Anyway, what doom and gloom are you referring to, particularly?

 Best wishes

I agree with you Doug. Genuine black humour might be shocking but it
isn't callous, and I don't think it knows any limits for
subject-matter. It should be able to handle either of those two
subjects, but not if it's only made of sneers and recycled
prejudices, it has to add something worthwhile. It takes some art
perhaps, or maybe just a healthy spirit, or a fully grown one anyway.
I see this piece was written in February 2005 by someone called Paul
Forcey. I'd say he has a long way to go. Or maybe you can't start
from there. Good luck to him anyway.

Best

Keith

In addition, I think the NYT has been doing extensive coverage on water issues
and there was some mention of North Carolina, too much concrete, not enough
water reaching the acquifer, drought, etc., in an article that was sent me by
snail mail.
