 Thanks Niels,

How cold is cold? I live in a rather warm
environment. Would 25 degrees celsius be cool enough?

Sorry, I meant cool not cold(thanks Kemp for correction), so keep in shadow
or as cool as possible.

What do you do when you find a grease layer like the
one you referenced. Is it difficult to rememdy?

Didn«t do anything. It«s first time I noticed grease, and it was related to
the 3 years old rape seed oil. In future I will avoid such old oil, and say
max 1-2 years. Regarding seasonal considerations (cultivation) 1 year should
be enough.

If I want to use vegetable oil as fuel, I want to be
able to have a month's supply in reserve.

You will have no trouble in rotating a month's supply, once properly washed.
There is some concern about bubbling for washing as air causes oxidation
that could have a negative effect in long term storage, if I understand that
correctly.
I use an oscillating lawn sprinkler hung upside down and fed via a Pony Pump
to wash and it works very well.

How well
will vegetable oil store? How is it done?

Some have had success storing for several months. The usual prefered method
of storage is in carboys. Fill to the brim so that there is a little air as
possible and keep in a cool (not cold) dark place.

Will new
and Used oil store the same?

Once processed into BD or before processing? Virtually any oil will keep
almost forever if kept near or below freezing, but I don't know what the
effect would be on storing BD in a frozen state for any length of time.

Luc

thanks

Kemp

We just used about 5000 litres 3 years old VO.
 Worked fine, but we observed
some grease layer on Zink coated steel, like on the
 fuel level sensor in the

 fuel filter. I don´t know
the reason for that, but it has only been observed

 this.

Maybe somebody here can help on this question.
