Re: [biofuel] BD 2 stroke oil update
Hi All Well some said no and some yes , I'm here to say that it dose work as 2 stroke oil and quite well at that , at first I was hasades to use it in my chain saw but after a while and having given it some thought, I used a 20 to 1 mix and it worked fine the smell is some what that off a high grade synthetic 2 stroke oil that I have used in the past , after using the saw for 2.5 hours in one go on dead Australian hard wood with no hick ups I was very impressed to say the leased So there you go, you can use it as 2 stroke oil and don't let any-one tell you other wise until they had tried it for them selfs Martin R. Good on you Martin! I felt sure that'd be the case, but nothing like knowing, eh? Wonder what would happen if you changed the gasoline for ethanol? By the way, not sure about it, but I've been told synthetic oil more or less IS biodiesel, with lots of processing and no-doubt well-additived. Thanks! Good start, but a few hours does not prove anything. Run it a few hundred and if it is still going, tear apart and have it checked for wear. Ed B. www.biofuels.ca - Original Message - From: Martin R. Re: [biofuel] BD 2 stroke oil update
Well, you'd think that at 20:1, just about anything would work, considering that most 2-strokes nowadays use 50:1 and even 100:1 mixes. I'd be hesitant, however, to use it in my expensive Stihl chainsaw, but if someone had an older 2-stroke lawnmower that they didn't care about, it would be interesting to try a 100:1 mix of straight BD and gas and just let it run continuously for 5 gallons worth or so. -- Harmon Seaver, MLIS CyberShamanix Work 920-203-9633 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Home 920-233-5820 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.cybershamanix.com/resume.html Yahoo!
