[OSM-talk] remapping in sydney

2012-08-20 Thread Ian Villeda
Hi everyone,

Here's a map I made of the remapping efforts in Sydney. The users represented
are those using Simon Poole's Task Manager [1] to remap the area - I'm sure
there other mappers who have done significant repairs but haven't been using
the task manager. Specifically, these are all the nodes created or edited by
remappers the two weeks between July26 and August 7. The map was made with
Tilemill [2] and a really long OverpassAPI call [3]. You can see how many nodes
were either created or edited by each user in this gist [4].

the map:

You can make similar visualizations following this guide [5], but I'm
particularly interested in how visualizations like this could be helpful in
motivating remapping efforts, and what we can do to make progress
visualizations like this one more better + more effective. I'm excited to hear
feedback, or where else visualizations might be useful.

Thanks,

[OSM-talk] Remapping - who needs help?

2012-08-14 Thread Alex Barth
Over here at MapBox we're structuring our remapping priorities right now.
Starting with end of August we'll have better tracing capacities again (some
folks are going out for vacation).

If you can use help with tracing / repairing that can be done remotely, please
let me know.

Help Montenegro! Australia and Poland are well known and a lot of people are
helping there. Montenegro's loss is a bit less than Australia but they have
nearly no mapper (I am aware of one)very poor country.
You can see bing coverage here on the Croatia OSM site

[OSM-talk] Remapping

2012-02-07 Thread Clifford Snow
I have attempted to contact user Sunny using the OSM messaging system.
Sunny was an active user about 4 years ago. Since I haven't heard back,
how do I know if their email address is still valid? Does OSM give a
reject message if the message bounces?

One other question. Sunny added streets using TIGER data. (Imported?) If
I replace the data, all the TIGER data goes away. Is that something I
should worry about?

Don't worry about losing the TIGER reference tags - just copy the
street name and any tags added by accepting users.

One situation is where a declining user added an obvious tag, such as
oneway = yes. I've just been deleting the whole way (a simple way such
as a motorway link) and redoing it to the aerial image.
