2017-03-29 Thread mmd
Hi,

your one-stop-shop wiki page for Overpass API examples has a few new
queries highlighting some recent 0.7.54 additions:

- Non-matching addr:postcode inside multiple postal code boundaries
- Adding Georeference details to village nodes
- Find duplicate nodes
- Find multipolygons with more than one outer way member
- Find relations with identical wikidata tags

See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API/Overpass_API_by_Example

This should give you some more ideas what is possible today in addition
to what Roland already covered in his blog series.

The generalized version for "Find << n >> adjacent ways for a given
way", would also be a good fit for 0.7.54. As it still depends on a new
language element 'complete', that#s a bit of a preview only at this time:

- "Find << n >> adjacent ways" : http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/nTx

Have fun... and be sure to add your own cool examples to the Wiki page!

Cheers
mmd

2017-03-15 Thread Dave F

Thanks for this

I'm enjoying learning the new features.

Would it be possible to highlight the amendments in the language
reference? A background colour or a 'v7.54' tag?

Cheers

Dear all,

a new version of Overpass API is now available. It has already been
rolled out on a the production server.

There are release notes on the releases page in the wiki:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Overpass_API/versions

As the new features are quite a lot, I will present them over the next
weeks in a dedicated blog:

Best regards,

2017-03-14 Thread Michał Brzozowski
About these "dark" POIs, I can claim prior art ;) Initially I thought
about buildings, but then I realized you can more easily search nodes
with name=* and addr:housenumber=* that don't have any main (shop,
amenity, ...) tag. These are often a result of iD beginners ;)
https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?pid=503313#p503313
It also seems to work well in the US (18k results), but then again -
in Poland we have quite comprehensive address imports in place. Much
of these nodes are from people adding business/whatever names to
already existing address points.
The addition of addr:housenumber clause seems to reduce false
positives substantially, otherwise I'd find myself adding more and
more keys to the query to exclude legitimate data.

Great! I already like the first new feature you wrote about. With it
it's now possible to query Overpass API for old style multipolygons (at
least those that have no other tags on the relation than type):

relation({{bbox}})
  [type=multipolygon]
  (if:count_tags()==1);
(._;>;);
out;

Thanks a lot!
