Doesn't "rock" imply solid rock, not loose stones, or am I missled? IIRR we
either use stones, pebbles or bedrock as values to avoid ambiguity. I would
more point on the artwork subtype than on the material, this could qualify
as landart?

somehow you should connect this node:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/1494188801

to the single badges,

You could create a multipolygon-relation (if all badges are areas) or
a site-relation (if you want to combine nodes with areas).

it wouldn't be bad to add more detail like memorial / memorial:type
and artwork_type, start_date, etc. (landart?

landcover=rock if you want to get detailed.

As each badge is for a different thing with a different name I'd not
combine them into a single relation.

They do share a common method of manufacture .. but so do roads and we
separate them up by their names.

These kind of figures are usually visible because the surrounding
vegetation and possibly soil was removed within the figures. This will
show up as negative space when you accurately map the surrounding
vegetation.

I don't think it would be appropriate for the standard map style to
render these figures independent of physical observable properties like
this.
