Re: [Talk-GB] TfL Cycle Infrastructure Database - matching against OSM

2020-04-27 Thread Rob Nickerson
Hi Richard, Hi all,

(Sorry for not replying properly to the thread - I don't receive the emails
into my inbox and nabble is complaining about a broken certificate today)

It sounds like you are making good progress. Thanks for all the written
documentation for those, like myself, who are not so good with ruby. It
would be good to see those uncontentious edits going in to OSM fairly soon.
Is the plan to get this fully automated with a test in the dev version of
osm first?

As for the rest, I am unclear what editor you are planning for people to
use. Out of interest what editor are the TfL employees being trained on?
The raster tilesets are obviously a huge advantage but do you plan for
something that integrates a bit more with the editor? Something along the
lines of the P2 merging tool, RapID or Hootenanny (also ID)?

Thank you,
*Rob*

For completeness, that was done in JOSM using the reverter plugin.  It also

Potlatch 2 would also have worked, but I'd have needed to delete the 3 new

Some combination of  "revert.pl" "undo.pl" and/or "delete.pl" in the OSM revert

There may also be merit in tagging a location that is frequently / consistently
used for more ephemeral art.  Any time you visit, you can reasonably expect to
see something, but it might be a different thing from what was there yesterday.

[Talk-GB] war graves / Remembrance day event

2020-04-27 Thread Daniel Pocock

This is related to the CWGC / war graves discussion[1] but I felt it is
worth a separate thread

Last year we had the hackathon in Kosovo on the weekend ahead of
Remembrance day

It could be interesting to do similar things this year. It could be
online or in any one or more locations.

If anybody wants to make such an activity, I don't know whether I can
personally commit or be present, but the Anzacathon scripts, data sets,
schema, views and documentation can be extrapolated for any similar
purposes. For example, the CWGC and TracesOfWar data sets are both much
more than Anzac data.

Such events could provide a focal point for the import of this data and
related projects.

Regards,

Daniel
