Re: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] Hi from Kidderminster

2010-02-26 Thread Andy Robinson (blackadder-lists)
Welcome Gavin,

Kiderminster is pretty much a blank canvas at the moment and I don't think
it has any existing mappers other than those who have passed through and
added the main thoroughfares. It's a place we could help get kick stared and
give you a little support, and focus for what time you might have available,
if we could do a Saturday mapping party there.

If you are able to come along to next weeks social that's great, we can give
you any help in getting stared and properly welcome you into the OSM
community.

btw, if you want to see who has already edited the map in yoru interest area
get yourself a free account at http://www.itoworld.com and use the OSM
mapper. With this tool you can see who mapped and when and even get in
contact with users via the OSM website. Currently the top Kiderminster
editor usernames are:

Richard
Steve Hosgood
blackadder
burto
Paul The Archivist
RichardB
xybot
Jenuk1985
Ron Wellsted
Gregory Williams

Of the above I think almost without exception these users have been passing
though. The possible exceptions being Steve Hosgood and burto, neither of
which I know. However Steve Hosgood's edits appear to be for the Severn
Valley Railway, so he could easily have been a holiday visitor to the area.

Do ask here if you have any questions, we are a small mailing list and
someone will be pleased to help.

Cheers

Andy (blackadder)

Subject: [Talk-gb-westmidlands] Hi from Kidderminster

Hi all,

I just wanted to say hi. I have been interested in the OSM project for a
while and have just managed to get myself a sat-nav so I can start doing
some work.

My main reason for posting is to say I will be working in the Kidderminster
area and wondered if anyone else was working in the area. Not wanting to
stand on their toes.

I doubt I will have a lot of time for doing mapping work but would like to
improve the map round the Kidderminster area.

Hope to make it to the meet in Birmingham on the 4th of March so you can
put a face to the name and I can pick up some tips.

Cheers
