I believe this is unrelated, as it has to do with the font you have
set for the headers.

I would point you to the right direction, but the settings for the
fonts for each part of TB! are spead all over the interface, there is
no central menu item. I cannot find any more where I set the font for
the headers, and the menu navigator doesn't help either. All I can say
is that his name renders correctly over here, under XP.

DC I haven't noticed any report that the font is not rendered in vista,
DC but lots that it is not rendered in xp. Actually, I think that two or
DC three people using xp have reported that it works for them. At least
DC one of those, you, is using a version of windows which I believe is
DC specifically oriented to not western alphabets.

Here, there is just the usual version of Windows.

DC I know that besides
DC this problem with the particular font being discussed, I get a fair
DC amount of spam which renders in vista as what looks to my untrained
DC eye as Chinese (as opposed to Japanese at least) and which is rendered
DC in XP with the little boxes.

Do you have the identical fonts on those two machines? Compare a
search through all directories, not just the Windows\Fonts directory.

DC Jernej Simončič renders correctly on vista, but looks like the
DC attached on my XP. I don't know if that is related or not, but it
DC seems similar enough to consider.

Jernej's surname does render here beautifully in the preview pane.
However, the quoted material in my reply shows only boxes. I do have the
Open Type version of Estrangelo Edessa on my system, but it is not
installed.

I don't understand how EEdessa could be related to the problem as it
is not an alphabetic font. It only consists of numbers and some
numerically-related symbols, so boxes would be shown where no values
were designed. Check out the character map in charmap.exe or download
The Font Thing where you can see exactly the values contained in the
particular font.

The Font Thing is a great little program which is still offered by the
author and is free of charge. http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/tft.html

I've just changed the font for quoted material in TB! to Times New
Roman (from Trebuchet) and Jernej's name is now displayed properly.

I guess the answer to the problem should be that a complete font, such
as Arial or Times New Roman, should be used whenever international
characters are likely to be encountered.

Forwarding a plain/HTML mail

2008-04-07 Thread Vili
As it happened to me like 3rd time a row, I bring it up:

I get an email, that has plain and HTML part as well. If I forward it
and using MicroEd, I write some text in it, it will be sent as a mail
with a Message.html attach. At the recipient, if the email client is
Outlook (maybe other client behaves the same), that will show the HTML
part, that is the Message.html. So, the recipient will not see my
correspondence in the plain part.

Simply: when editing and forwarding a plain/HTML mail, the sent mail
will have a plain and HTML part that dont correspond to each other.
And I think it is a problem.
