2009-01-13 Thread MAU
Hello Maurice,

I'd like to be able to (temporarily) clear empty folders from the
account, without having to fix the filter again. I had hoped that by
setting 'create if doesn't exist' the reset to Inbox wouldn't happen.

Would anyone else be interested in this?

I'm not sure, I will have to think about it.

Meanwhile, can you copypaste one of your filters to take a look?
Because unless there is something in your filters that makes me change
my mind, I think my approach to do what you are doing would be to create
a single (and probably more complex) Incoming filter, or perhaps a
simple on that would move all virus reports to a single physical folder
and then create virtual folders for each virus.

No, there will be no IMAP fixes now. IMAP requires serious work,
not just fixes, it takes time.

Can we have IMAP rework/fixes instead new features?

Did I miss an announcement? Who posted any news about upcoming new
features?

Maybe the RITLabs developers by now prefer to only grab the
low-hanging fruits, i.e. bugfixes for 4.1.x, which are easy to solve.

I guess afterwards they will start with 4.2 development, i.e. IMAP
rework. = See mid:1127313245.20081210161...@ipex.cz and
mid:1124908893.20081030210...@thebat.net

In my opinion this procedure is okay as long as we get a reworked IMAP
implementation for 4.2.

If I am wrong, you may correct me. ;-)

I feared about the same, as i deleted some folders which did not work.
What you describe above is only possible, if you recreate the folder
imediately new, so the filter has a target again.

I would love to have a filter, which can delete folders or

Maybe it could even be possible to create a RegEx Filter with

I would love to not have Filters, which do reset to Inbox, if the

I've considered that, but it wouldn't make things work the way I want

Worse still, how would I be able to find out what virtual folders to
create to start with? Currently that is quite easy. I have a master
filter that matches any messages coming from the av application. I look
at messages and create a filter, then I re-filter the folder and I am
left with the messages that still need to be filtered to separate
folders. I can continue doing this until no messages are left.

As soon as messages stay in the av application folder, I know that I

Yes, I agree performance may be an issue.

Moreover, if a virtual folder no longer lists any messages and I delete
it, how would I be triggered to recreate that folder?

Good question. I also thought about that a couple of hours after I had
sent my message.

Worse still, how would I be able to find out what virtual folders to
create to start with? Currently that is quite easy. I have a master
filter that matches any messages coming from the av application. I look

Looks like you had thought about everything before implementing your
current scheme. And I agree, in your case it wouldn't be easy to
implement with VFs.

A 'half way' solution to get the empty folders out of the way could be
to move them to a dummy account or as sub-folders of another folder (the
filters will be adjusted, as you know) and keep the dummy account
collapsed until you see there are new messages in it.

Your point is well made. There are a wide variety of excellent
readers out there that do a great job.

I work in an environment where people want one software program that
can do both. I also realize that is not in the best interest of The
Bat! That is why I support The Bat focusing its work in IMAP and
e-mail functionality. An RSS module would be great. However, it is not
the priority right now. I just mentioned it given the constant
complaining I hear from clients.

BTW, thanks for providing the list of RSS Readers. I will share that
with the people who are looking for a reader.

All the best.

I do not understand, why it is eating only a single dot out?

It should be XMP 1.1.91.0 - like in this Signature.
