That is a good start.

However, I would like to ask Ritlabs about the future of the Image Download
Manager. In addition to the current "allow all" and "allow nothing" the IDM
allows
selection of downloadable content on a variety of criteria. Especially
if some helpful images can be downloaded from domain A and a tracking
pixel from domain B can be blocked.

It would be a shame to discard such a helpful tool that allows users
to finely balance between content and security.

Best regards,
mse

Sorry, I'm only on this list, I don't know about any other list and
this started happening just after Steven returned so it seems like it
might be a beta issue.

I did see Marks post and I thought I followed his answer on how to

On the other hand, I see no reason for email to have scripts. Ok,
provide the option, but make it separate from images.

the first time you view an HTML mail, a window should open with the following
text.

[ ] Load all images and scripts
[ ] Always load all images and scripts
[ ] Do not load images and scripts
[ ] Don't ask me again

The selected settings should then be saved in the options. In addition, the

Return-Path may be added by the receiving e-mail server, and it
contains the envelope From address (the address where bounces return
to), but this header isn't normally used by e-mail clients.

The e-mail client should reply to the Reply-To address, if it's
present, and to the From address otherwise. If the From address
contains your own address, you will have to find out why this happens
yourself (this is either a misconfiguration on the sender's part, or
on your e-mail server).

This is a very old argument. Perhaps soon on the horizon the day will
come where we don't need to continue to hash this out.

I, for one, wish to have an option to download all images automatically.
I like it best if I can set it as an option in program setup rather than
clicking on a button/link to download images for a specific email.
No, I really don't want to open a browser to view an email. That
doesn't seem to me to have any advantage of security, etc. To me
it feels like an annoyance to need to do that.

My email provider effectively filters out viruses and other nasties.
I never see them.

I have been doubleclicking browser icon in "un-readable" html for 2
decades. Why duplicate the effort of the browser in an email client? I
never had a problem explaining this to my clients. Almost all of them

I don't think that circumstance scares people off.

At least there is a big button to reload the pictures - this is standard on
many e-mail clients. And whoever finds the way to TheBat! is probably
rather surprised by the default setting of automatic loading.

I also think that allowing download external images is not a good
idea, but the reality is - many HTML messages are so badly laid out
that it's almost impossible to read them without images downloaded and
(more important) people just think that program is not working right,
so it just turns many people away and/or creates additional pressure
to our support. What I would agree here that there is some work to be

You can tweak them already via program Preferences / Other options.

Running here - thank you!

One thing I noticed, not having kept in touch for a few weeks: the new
versions (9.1.116 not, 91.1.18 seems to already be affected) seem to have
much more vertical spacing in tree views (folders, message list):
 Current: https://paste.pics/9C4DF
 Previous: https://paste.pics/9C4E7

I tend to like the older more compact view more.

Is this a feature and there to stay, or are those new libraries that
can/will be tweaked to more compact display?

Thank you!

If not please do so.

Hello Ira,

Your question is not related to any beta feature or enhancement, it
should have been sent to TBUDL and not to this list.

Aside of that, you are sending HTML message. Do you read this list?

I suggest that next time you try to us Google to look for answers

Return-To Header entry

2020-06-18 Thread Ira
Title: Return-To Header entry

Hi

I've started seeing messages with a header that looks like:

Return-Path: @SomeMailService.com>

Where the Return-Path contains the sender and the From contains my email address, so replying to them doesn't work.

Seems Return-Path is for something else, but why do I keep getting emails from people that show both the From and the To containing my address , so replying replies to me, not the the sender of the email. It's a recent change and I'm not trying to point a finger at the Bat, but I'm completely perplexed as to what might cause this.
