Re: Beta 41 - NT FIX.. OK!

Hi Graham,

On Tue, 19 Feb 2002, at 22:35:07 [GMT +] (which was 0:35 where I
live) in msgid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] you wrote:

   I've changed something and
 Do tell..

In Beta/40, the bas was loading a DLL for NTML (MSN) authentication
at startup. The DLL file name is secur32.dll. Under NT4, this DLL is
called security.dll, and the error was caused by the absence of
  secur32.dll.

In Beta/41, the DLL isn't been loaded at startup, but only when
needed, directly before the NTLM authentication.

In Beta/42, The Bat! will gracefully handle the absence of
secur32.dll. It will first try to load secur32.dll, and, in case of
absence, it will try to load security.dll. Even in case of absence
of security.dll, the MSN authentication will just fail, but the
  program won't give an exception.

As you can see it all works now.. (and quickly too!)

Thank you very much for the good news! Did anyone estimate the
speed difference between the recent beta, Beta/39 and 1.53, for
example? The difference should be noticeable when entering large
folders, with five thousand messages or more. On network drives, the
difference should be even more sufficient.

Yes it is much faster.

I also like the new 'Edit Shortcuts' feature, but I am unfortunately still
missing one thing that I had in another Email program (Virtual Access): One
keystroke to mark the current message read and skip to the next keystroke.
That would allow me to quickly scan through messages of a mailing list like this
one for example.

Or am I overlooking something ?
