Hi all, first of all, thanks for all the reactions. I do not have the problem anymore now, but I am still interested in finding the cause. During mail check, I could use the rest of the program normally. MB - purge and compress folders. TF OK, this uses CPU time, but that's understandable. it took an abnormal amount of time for the small amount of messages in the folder or that had ever been in there. MB - at startup (while the startup screen is visible) TF I think every program needs time to boot up. This took abnormally long too. MB - importing mailboxes from Eudora Pro mailbox files (this eventually MB took some days (It literrally took a weekend to import a lot of the MB stuff) and I still do not have all of it there). TF I didn't try this. I checked what is going on when it is importing the mailboxes and saw that this is the time when TheBat! creates all the temporary files. However, TheBat! never takes care of a clean-up of these temp-files as it seems. This could be a bug, or uncareful programming. Either way, I think it should be repaired. (I will send a bug report on it). I think this is what caused the problem in my case, as importing my old email archives was one of the first things I did with TheBat! You are so knowledgeable about dealing with all things Bat so far, that I hope you'll be able to file the bug report. For unknown reasons--probably that I made an account months and months ago and forgot about it--I can't get access to file one. It should be simple to put in a little code to make TB! take these out automatically? (Although, after my disastrous inability to open attachments when my bat.tmp files reached the count of 88, I got a program which will clean all the temp files I have on an automatic schedule, it would still be nice to have this fixed so that it doesn't catch the unwary any more.)
