 filter, or filters, used to move or copy it there.

Have you ever taken a look at the Account's log? If not, please do. 
'Account/View log', or 'Shift+Ctrl+A' or click on bottom status bar.

That works OK, thanks for the tip. I have looked at the log but failed
to see the additional usage it could be put to. Maybe if something as
elegant as Fortes implementation isn't forthcoming a mention in the
help as to how the log might be used for looking at filters could be

In my version, with just the incoming mail and re-filter selected
messages only boxes selected, for a single message in my TBUDL
folder, clicking OK gets me two dialog boxes. 

The first has a title of test results and a body text of Processed
by: The Bat! User Discussion List. Actions performed: Moved to the
folder \\[Path to]\The Bat! User Discussion List. That dialog box also
has an OK button and when I click, the box disappears and shows the
second one that was hidden behind it. (My filter and my folder for
TBUDL messages are both called The Bat! User Discussion List)

That one's title is Test filters and its body text is Messages
processed: 1. Messages Filtered: 1. Re-filtering complete. There are
Close and Help buttons.

For what it's worth, ticking the log filtering results box appears 
to make no difference. The results of the Test Filters function do 
not appear in the account log. Maybe they are written to another file 
somewhere, but I have never felt the need to look for one.

That feature has existed in every TB! version I have used, from
whatever v2.x I started with in 2004 up to the v4.0.38 I use now.
Maybe they deliberately or accidentally removed it on a newer version.

Or maybe RITlabs themselves.

in how it worked.  I can see however how such information might help in
determining why a new or modified folder failed to work.  I'll try it next time.

I find it useful if a message turns up in an unexpected folder. If the 
Test Filter results indicate it shouldn't have, I just re-filter. 
Otherwise I just move it manually, and consider whether a filter needs 
editing.

Previously selected message indicator color

Hello TBUD Listers,

I currently use the VIEW + WINDOW SPLIT MODE + FULL-WIDTH PREVIEW PANE display.
A selected message in the upper-right panel displays in a blue color.  However
when I click in the bottom half panel displaying the complete message, the color
of the selected message in the upper-right panel changes to a barely visible
blue or gray (it's too faint to tell).  Does anybody know where those colors can
be changed?

Ah!  Grayed out therefore ignored by my visual cortex.  Since you were able to
actually tick or un-tick that box, yours must not be grayed out.  No combination
of ticked and un-ticked boxes would un-gray that option for me.

The only times I can recall having a message land in the wrong folder is when
the sender changed something, which had been static, upon which I had been
filtering.  An examination of the filter and the errant message usually reveals
the problem.

Actually, the colour shouldn't change. As long as the message is
unread, it is on bold face, and that changes to normal once it is
opened.

I haven't played with colours in v5 yet, but will test it soon.

For me, always using plaintext, the \n for a line break works correctly. So 
I'm guessing memory serves you correctly.

Same here - never had a problem with it. although I HAVE use /n and had 
unexpected but correct results :))) Make sure you are using notepad to create 
the text file. If you are using something else you might want to see what code 
page it is saving in. I don't know that it matters with the cookie file, but 
with BATCH files if you save them in UTF-8 they will not run, they must be 
saved as DOS text. I use a notepad replacement where that can be an issue

TF Actually, the colour shouldn't change. As long as the message is

I was prompted to try and find it myself and it seems I was successful.  It's in
OPTIONS + PREFERENCES + MESSAGE LIST + COLOR GROUPS.  Duh!  Since I've never
created a color group of my own, the only one available for me to EDIT is
GENERIC GROUP.  It's not particularly easy to understand because of the names
chosen to represent different things in your display but if you play around with
it, eventually you'll get something usable.  Which I did.  Don't overlook the
tabs in the middle of the EDIT COLOR GROUP box.

line in the message list.

You are right! I handn't checked before sending my mail and last time
I used colour groups, there weren't so many options IIRC.

Personally, I don't think I need all these options as I am perfectly
happy with the bold/unbold toggle for unread/read, but other people
might like it.

Isn't that controlled by the Windows colors for selected and unselected
text in Control Panel? (And not from a The Bat setting.) Right click on the
Desktop, select Properties or Personalize (etc., depending on your
Windows version, look for Colors (etc.)...

I don't think so but I've never tried that.  I was able to change the colors I
wanted to change from within TB as described in a previous post.
