Re: Reset Gmail

2019-02-02 Thread Richard L de S Clauson
Hi Richard,

Just catching up with emails in this folder, hence the very late response.

You have set up the GMail account in TB! as a POP3 account (not an IMAP4
account). This means that as TB! has not messages already from this mail
server it will go and download everything in the InBox from start to end,
and that is exactly what you are reporting TB! to be doing.

NOTE: Be aware that TB!, using its default settings, can then possibly
delete all messages from the mail server (GMail in this case) older than 30
days!!!

I'd not heard of the "recent:" prefix before, and haven't Googled about it,
but I suspect, based on some of the other replies, that it may be an IMAP4
feature.

Hope that helps?

Regards,
Richard L de S Clauson

This month I have again received 2 reminders about the mailing list
membership. Again the one from postmaster-ow...@lists.fu-berlin.de was at
02:01 BST (01:01 GMT), and the one from mailman-ow...@thebat.dutaint.com was

Are we to expect this double notification posting from here on in?

Marck,

That sounds excellent news. One of my bug-bears with The Bat! was the way
that it sometimes failed to render an HTML email in a sufficiently readable
way when the sender was cavalier with the sizes of the images they supplied
and slack with the HTML code they used to define their output/display.

I hope that this fix has also been replicated into the way emails are then
printed. Even if the Windows OS HTML Viewer rendering option is chosen the
printing rendering reverts back to that of The Bat! HTML Viewer rendering.

I'll now put in for an Upgrade licence fron v6.x to v7.x.

Thanks

Problems with size (width) of HTML messages using internal viewer

2016-08-30 Thread Richard L de S Clauson
For quite some time (probably over 2 years) dome of the HTML (formatted)
emails I receive are formatted very badly by The Bat!.

What is happening, and mainly caused by large embedded images, is that the
email ends up much wider than the message plane in the 3-plane layout I use
can display (folders all down left side, folder content top-right, message
bottom-right).

When I temporarily switch from "Use The Bat! HTML viewer" to "Use Windows OS
HTML Viewer" the the email is re-sized to fit the Message plane.

Are there any settings, including tweaking the underlying template or
definition or CSS files, that I can change to stop this really annoying
behaviour?

Thanks,
Richard

 Marck,

So why did some Beta code, which is know to cause rendering of image

And which files from the previous version (v4.2.40) can we extract from the

I did try re-installing the previous release, but it didn't seem to work.

This version doesn't seem to. The kludges/headers:

Maybe you can set up a Rule/Filter to add the correct header field derived
from the MS-specific header line. For one account I've added the macro
%AddHeader(X-TB-Folder,%FolderName) to the default Reply template. There is
a Rule/Filter option Set User Param which looks like it could do the
setting, and there's the option Set Memo which can contain Macros. There is
also the Run External Program option which may be will allow the running a
process to add the header string.

Unfortunately that can't be remedied from your side.

 Annoying though.

Maybe TB! will be able to recognise Outlook threading headers one day.

Even if Outlook/Exchange doesn't create the right threading info, are you
aware that you can Drag'n'Drop one message (tree) onto another message and
therefore can recreate the broken branch of the message tree? Also using
the Shift or Ctrl key while dragging you can break apart a wrongly built
tree.

For discussion lists this is the best setting that I've found (+ save the
view mode as 'expanded' so you're not forever clicking little +es) ...

Are you aware that once a root message is highlighted you can type ctrl+
or ctrl- (using the number pad + is easier) and the whole of the thread
from that point downward will expand/compress in one go. I only found this
having used it in another application and wondered whether it would work in
The Bat!.

 There's always a downside, but I haven't come across it yet...although I'm
sure someone will enlighten me if there is.

See other message about Drag'n'Drop messages to build/break tree structures
