Hello MFPA,

Ops! I think I misunderstood you question, I thought you were trying
to find replies you had sent.

I just followed your instructions and TB! found the reply even
though it was not from me.

Now that you mention it, that should work. Why not. After all, it is
searching for references to the MID of the original message.

Feeling obliged to add here that the message is found only if it is
not in a common folder, i.e. if it is located in an account folder.
This bug is still present (even though on the ritlabs bugtracker it
shows as closed, ID 0005717).

Could be, I don't use any common folders. Never found any real use for
them.

Finding all linked messages

2006-10-15 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

I'm sure someone here will be able to help me. I'm trying to find a
reply to a message that I originally sent. I've searched extensively
but I can only find the original message. IS there anyway to find
replies to a message when you have the original? Any advice gratefully
received.

You could do a search for the mid of the original message. Do the
search under header contains.

On the view menu, select view threads by reference. If the original
and reply are in the same folder, there is a good chance they will be
grouped that way.

Select the original message and hit Ctrl+Backspace and TB will search
for the reply in most appropriate folder(s). If found, it will open a
folder view showing the message and, if not found, it will ask you if
you want to search in other folders (i.e. the reply could have been
moved).

This also works for Forwarded messages. TB may initially tell you that
the message was not replied (if it wasn't) and will ask you if you still
want to search.

To find the mid, go to the message and hit F9 to see the headers.
There will be a line that looks somewhat like
Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

That strange [EMAIL PROTECTED] part is the mid, so
just copy it and use it in your search.
