Hello MFPA,

Very good, on a pade visited by people whose email service has been
disrupted due to somebody else using an ill-conceived and
 poorly-configured anti-spam solution.

That is the problem. Blacklist may use whatever criteria they wish, the
problem is that some sysadmins may decide to reject email based on what
one or another blacklist tell them. That is the problem with the
server hosting tbudl.

Hello Thomas,

Hm. Which POP client would have downloaded your message before you
 check your TBUDL account?

None in my case. I'm just illustrating what recent stands for.

Hello Thomas,

Now that I have this working, could someone now explain a little
theory behind the addition of recent.

Some non-English-speaking immigrant working at Gmail chose this word.
It should have been own: or self:.

I wish there was an option for own or self. Recent stands for
recent, as you can see here:

If I recall correctly, Gmail only exhibits this bug if your outgoing
mail goes through their server. Sending through a different SMTP
server (like your ISP's, or direct from your own PC, or using one of
the other free services available) makes it work properly: if Google
didn't record your message-id on the way out, they can't use it to
censor your message when it comes back in.

I also just did a quick spot of searching on Google's self-help forum
and the recurring theme is that they do not provide a setting to turn
off this bug. They mention filters and labels, but I don't recall
those working for their POP server, just their web interface. And even
if it worked, you would get a copy of your sent message, not the
incoming one via the group with the added headers.

Not sure if CC or BBC to yourself would work, or whether google would
censor that incoming copy as well.

Or you could subscribe to the list with two different addresses, using
one to send and the other to receive. On that note, any idea if the
@thebat.net email joint offering by Ritlabs and google is still
around?

In addition to the basic account in TheBat, where I receive almost all
of my mail, I have a secondary account for Gmail. (I created it a while
back because I was having a problem on TBUDL.) I subscribe to four
lists on the main account. There is no recent in the account
properties, yet I have had no problem seeing my onw postings. The only
problem was in the sub-account for Gmail.

I hate having things work without knowing why they work.

Why they use that word/ Who knows, but what it does is bring back your sent
messages. Google doesn't default to this since you sent it, you probably don't
want to see it again. (don't shoot the messenger for that one) :))

It should have been own: or self:.

The reason is that Google - as the only POP provider in the world -
assumes that you don't want to receive mails that you have sent. A
logic I fail to understand, but luckily, this misnomed function fixes
their user friendliness.

In addition to the basic account in TheBat, where I receive almost all

in disbelief.
