Curiouser and curiouser, I don't even have an %appdata%\The Bat!
But I'll admit that my setup isn't a default one. ;-)

My mail folder is at %appdata%\The Bat! and IIRC that is the
default, although I have heard that in very early versions of TB!
this was different (and does not change when you upgrade).

This is my understanding, also.

And so, my Mail folder is in the TB! directory and not in the
Application Data folder.

More curiously, TB!'s temp folder *is* in the App Data folder, here.

I guess it all depends on what settings are conserved as one upgrades
along the way from 1.xx to the present, current version.

I have no temp folder under %programfiles%\The Bat! or under
%appdata%\The Bat!. Here, bat*.tmp files can sometimes be
found in the %temp% directory.

Recovering Toolbars from Old Computer

2007-01-08 Thread Michael Rudnick
I recently set up a new computer. I successfully moved TheBat and my
messages over successfully. I'd like to move over my toolbars. I customized
several items and don't want to go through the process again.

Does anyone know where this might be stored?

Thanks.

In the tbuser.def file in your mail directory.

In case you're using OTFE it's called tbuser.eef, but that can only be
used when you're using the same master password.

RO In the tbuser.def file in your mail directory.

MR Not sure what is OFTE.

On The Fly Encryption: encrypted message base.

MR I found the file and had already moved it.

Did you close and restart TB on your new system?

MR On the old pc, I have an new toolbar. I can see reference to it in
MR the tbuser.def file but I don't see it when I go to View,
MR Toolbars.

You wouldn't per chance use encryption on your new system, would you?
I guess the unencrypted tbuser.def from your old pc wouldn't work in
that case.

MR Any other suggestions?

Not really, no.
