Dane,
Perhaps distances and other factors make your speeds much slower than it is
possible to receive in the UK, depending upon provider and package.
Anyway, as long as you get what you require then that is the important matter.
Best wishes,
Roger.

My NBN Broad-Band connection went down on Thursday evening, a technician was
out early this morning and it took him less than 5 minutes to identify and fix
the problem.
I was the cause of the problem, I was making some wiring changes in the NBN
termination box when my arm caught in the thin Fibre Optic cable, i moved my
arm and of course the cable snapped so that was that and again, an annoyance
that I couldn’t see what was about to happen .
Anyway I only mention this because during the down time of the NBN I obviously
had to rely on my 4G mobile data service which I used mainly with my Samsung
Galaxy S6 and the personal Hotspot connected to either the Mac or the Windows
PC but mainly the as the data transfer rate was a lot faster than with the PC
and I’ll explain more about that in a few seconds.
Actually the data rate itself was far faster than I get with the NBN, with the
NBN its about 2.5MB down and 500K up but with the 4G data - using the PC - it
was around 3.5MB up and about the same down.
However on the MAC the data speed changed dramatically and this was absolutely
astounding, 35MB down and 5MB up. So why the big speed difference between
Windows PC and Mac? Well I can’t confirm this definitely but I suspect that the
Wi-Fi dongle I was using on the PC to connect to the Samsung was slowing things
down due to the fact that it is a USB device and connected to a USB 2.0 port
whereas with the Mac Mini I was using its own built-in Wi-Fi connection and I
suspect things may have even been faster had the Wi-Fi connection from the Mac
been the latest AAC standard.
so what of all this? Well nothing really only to say that if you’re not using a
huge amount of data then you’d possibly be much better off getting a good 4G
plan with your phone carrier rather than having a broad-Band service installed
in your home.
