Re: [Techno-Chat]: Microsoft to close Groove Music Pass and move users to Spotify

2017-10-06 Thread Gordon Smith
This just goes to show that companies should stick to what they know best.
Apple has a long history in the multimedia market, which is why iTunes is so
well established I guess. But it’s worth pointing out that there are other
methods of managing one’s iOS content, backing up and synching, as well as
playing music both locally and from the device. For example, there is iMazing,
which gives you effectively another USB drive so that you can drag and drop
your content as you please. MacX iPhone Manager is another example of same, and
they have a promotion on at the moment whereby users can get a free licensed
copy of their manager product.

Of course, there’s always a catch and, I guess, in this case, it’s that the
license expires as soon as the next minor release is posted.

But the product is worth having, and it exists for Mac and Windows.

Possibly, yes, but I’m not seeing it on the current ad page.

I got my Google Home too early! Guess I couldn’t wait! Thus, I got it from a
company in Chicago who shipped it to me. Problem, it’s country code is US and
it’s getting quite confused about firmware updates. Seems that I should have
big my tongue and waited the extra few months.

[Techno-Chat]: Hp Notebook

Hi!
I have a new HP Probook 450 G3 computer which I like very much though there’s
still a lot to be discovered, I’ll touch more on that in a few moments.
To me the Probook is everything one could pretty well want in a Notebook
without going overboard though obviously this is my opinion and everyone has an
opinion .
Its a 15 inch model which means there’s plenty of room for a full-size keyboard
which is exactly what this model has.
I’ve had HP Notebook machines previously and I’ve always liked the HP keyboards
for typing though the last HP machine I had exhibited odd behaviour with the
insert key on the number pad, it was assigned in the BIOS for some special
function and I never found out what that was.
I had bought about - for that very reason alone - going with another brand of
machine until I was recommended the Probook 450 by my local computer store, I
saw a Toshiba model there too with similar specs but I didn’t like the feel of
the machine anywhere near as much compared to the HP Probook so that’s the one
I have and its a pretty high spec machine.
I won’t go into the usual features of a Notebook but I will outline some of the
interesting features and functions I’ve seen on the machine thus far.
Firstly the HP Probook 450 has a fingerprint reader which is very easy to set
up and even issues sounds to let the user know if they are moving the finger
the right or wrong way over the reader.
Next the computer has a BTM chip to be used with Bytlocker, the encryption
facility as found in Windows 10 Professional.
And then there’s the function I’m really excited about and that’s the HP
“Biosphere” security system.
From what I can gather this system allows access to the computer’s BIOS via the
Internet thus giving a user power to boot up the machine bypassing windows etc.
And so to the obvious question, does anyone know if the “Biosphere” function is
at all accessible?

Thought this may interest other list members, seems that Amazon aren’t the only
people busy with launching new products and services.
