Best answer: use the new commands provided by musixsty.tex,
described in ยง2.23.22 of the manual. (Not tested by me.)

Quick answer, if you use musixsty.tex only for its font definitions:
kill the offending part of what musixsty.tex does by

\output{\plainoutput}

after inputting musixsty.tex.

[Tex-music] headlines with musixsty

2016-03-03 Thread Bob Tennent
musixdoc.pdf says that TeX prints the contents of the
control sequences \headline and \footline at the top and
bottom respectively of every page. But not if one inputs
musixsty.tex. How can I get a "headline" if I input
musixsty.tex?

Hi Dirk,

I never encountered any severe problem with MikTex, which I have been
using more than 15 years.

The only caveat I am aware of is: After manual package installation be
sure to maintain the MikTex Database.
