Re: [Tex-music] Problems with PDF output

2022-11-19 Thread dsimons
Here's the output when I run dvips. The only difference I see is in the first
line of output, which I presume relates to the source of the dvips executable.

C:\Users\dsimo\Documents\PMX>dvips bwv847_1
This is dvips(k) 2022.1 (MiKTeX22.8) Copyright 2021 Radical Eye Software
(www.radicaleye.com)
' TeX output 2022.11.19:1817' -> bwv847_1.ps

.

It produces a perfectly fine postscript file.

What do you people suggest?

Did you try 'musixtex -p bach-bwv847prel_fug#2.pmx' ?

ie. direct tex-pdf (pdftex etc)

Hope I understand the question. dvips won't let you catch the result into

Rodolfo--

Sorry about the problem. I glanced at the long stream of responses but didn't
look in detail.

I have no problem at all processing your pmx file using my standard batch file
under a windows 2000 command prompt window, which produces the postscript. The
code versions run are

PMX, Version 2.98 , 12 Dec 21
pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.24 (MiKTeX 22.8)
MusiXTeX(c) 1.32 <2021-05-13>
Musixflx-0.83.3.lua7
dvips(k) 2022.1 (MiKTeX22.8)

I view the file in GSview version 5.0 2012-01-17, from which I produce a pdf
using the "convert" command.

This probably won't help much since I think I'm the only one in the world who
runs PMX/MusiXTeX under Windows, but perhaps the version numbers are of use.

Looking at the log produced by musixtex -i, I see that musixdia.tex and
musixper.tex are input; I don't know why. Is it possible you don't have
these extension packages?
Perhaps you should run musixtex -i and attach the log file.

My DVI output is also OK, so the problem is created in the step DVI -> PS.

You mean convert to PDF format? I did, via ps2pdf, and it worked fine.

In fact, after installing PMX from Ctan, the problem remains.

Is the trouble already in the PostScript format?

Thanks, I'm installing it, but I'm afraid the problem is not in the
pmxab step but in the dvips step. In fact, after installing pmx from
Ctan, i will do:

 $ pmxab file.pmx

and then the usual etex > musixflx > etex > dvips > ps2pdf circle.
I'll let you know, thanks again.

That seems to date from 2015. Try installing from https://ctan.org/pkg/pmx
or http://icking-music-archive.org/software/pmx/pmx-2.98a.zip.

I think it's the one coming from and with Debian:

# aptitude install pmx
pmx is already installed at the requested version (2.7.0.ctan20150301-4)
pmx is already installed at the requested version (2.7.0.ctan20150301-4)
No packages will be installed, upgraded, or removed.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B of archives. After unpacking 0 B will be used.

And:

# aptitude install musixtex
musixtex is already installed at the requested version (1:1.20.ctan20151216-4)
musixtex is already installed at the requested version (1:1.20.ctan20151216-4)
No packages will be installed, upgraded, or removed.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0 B of archives. After unpacking 0 B will be used.

Thanks,

[Tex-music] Problems with PDF output

2022-11-19 Thread Rodolfo Medina
Hi, dear friends:

after using xml2pmx and obtaining the PMX file, I launch musixtex on
it but get a messed PDF output. My system is a Debian Linux latest
version. Anybody there using the same? I'm attaching both PMX and
PDF outputs. Please help who can. It may be some bug in some
application, possibly dvips, but I don't know how to work it out.

Thanks in advance,

Rodolfo
