Carmen Electra has become such a versatile force in the celebrity
world that is seems she can do almost anything. She's worked in
television, film, theater, and has even created a fitness video.
It leaves one wondering if there's anything she can't do...for
instance, could she choose the right florist?

Choosing the right florist to fit your needs can make your flower
ordering and gift giving experiences much easier. Your florist
can be your ally and make you look like the best gift-giver in
town. He or she can help you remember important dates, like
birthdays and anniversaries, and be a key player in making sure
your loved ones always receive a beautiful and personal gift at
exactly the right time. But, unfortunately, as with every service
industry, all florists are not created equally. And, even though
one florist might be perfect for your neighbor, your needs might
be completely different.

To help you choose the florist that's right for you, the Society
of American Florists suggests you use these tips:

 * Look for a shop that offers lots of product choices. Because
everyone in your life is unique, they will have different likes
and dislikes. You'll need to find a florist that can accommodate
all those different personalities by offering a wide variety of
flowers and design choices.

 * Find a florist who is interested in getting to know you. If a
florist doesn't seem willing to take the time to find out who
you're ordering flowers for and what they can do to make the
experience better for you and the recipient, you should probably
find someone else for your floral needs. A good florist will keep
track of your floral likes and dislikes and offer to remind you
of upcoming important dates.

 * Find a florist who offers suggestions. You're a busy person
and you're not always going to know exactly what you want to
send. Your florist should be able to suggest new trends or
seasonal flowers that the recipient might enjoy. He or she should
also have ideas for making your gift unique.

 * Make sure your florist offers high quality products. If the
plants and flowers in the shop don't look healthy, keep looking!
There's nothing worse than ordering flowers for someone you love
only to find out their arrangement wilted the next day or just
wasn't as beautiful as it should be upon receipt.

 * Find a florist who is professionally affiliated. Florists who
love their craft enough to join professional affiliations are
usually more committed to quality than those who don't. Look for
affiliations with national wire services, like FTD and Teleflora,
and with national

Are you ready to cash in your existing vehicle for a newer model,
or are you just looking for ways to unload a gas guzzler? Selling
your car can be daunting - from listing to showing and all of
that paperwork. But done correctly, your efforts can pay off in
the end. Here's a few tips on selling your used car or truck:

1. Price it Right. Like anything, customers won't bite if you
advertise an over-priced item. Find out what your car is really
worth, not what you want to make on it. Use the Kelley Blue Book
(http://www.kbb.com), or check Ebay (http://ebay.com) for similar
vehicle sales prices. The Consumer Guide
(http://www.consumerguide.com) will let you know the going market
rate.

2. Write a Compelling Description. Consider the buyer when you
write your description. What would you want to know about a car
before spending your time calling and test driving? Detail every
feature your car has, describing its honest condition and recent
maintenance. Read other advertisements to get ideas, and answer
questions proactively to save everyone's time.

3. Create a Listing. While newspaper classifieds are a great way
to advertise your car, the Internet has also opened up a plethora
of used car sales venues. You can post an ad at online auction
houses like Ebay (http://ebay.com) or general classified websites
like Craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org) and Cars Direct
(http://www.carsdirect.com).

4. Make a Donation. If you have an extremely old car and it's
simply not worth your time and trouble to sell it, consider a tax
deductible donation. Look in your local Yellow Pages for
charities near you, or visit America's Car Donation Charities
Center (http://www.donateacar.com). That unwanted car just may be
someone's lifeline.

5. Clean and Detail Your Car. Nobody wants to buy a dirty car.
Even if you're comfortable with it, a stranger will expect a
spotless car and will pay more for this extra attention to
detail. Wash, wax, vacuum, shine the dashboard and clean all the
windows and mirrors. You might even want to shine the tires and
hubcaps while you're at it.

6. Prepare the Paperwork. Have all the paperwork ready when
buyers visit and test drive your vehicle. Check your state
requirements for smog certificates, title transfers, tax
requirements and odometer reading statements. Ask the local
Department of Motor Vehicles if you're not sure. Plus, have all
parties sign a bill of sale.

7. Be Cautious of Scams. Finally, when dealing with online
transactions, be leery of foreign buyers requesting payment via
wire transfers, escrow services or Western Union.

Historical Wild West

How The Old West Has Been Defined

People refer to the 'Old West' as the 'Wild West' or simply the
'West'.

No matter how what they might call it, many look upon the
American Old West as a wild and dangerous place that existed in
the last half of the 1800's in the American Frontier, west of the
Mississippi River in the United States.

Even Europeans who dislike or fear George W. Bush are quick to
call him a cowboy, in a derogatory manner, as if his being from
Texas automatically brands him as being like the outlaw cowboys
that died at the O.K. Corral on October 26 1881, in Tombstone,
Arizona Territory.

Many other people from around the world romanticize the American
Old West. They conjure images of cowboys, Indians, guns, cattle,
buffalo, trains and the simple life when they imagine the world
of the Old West.

Television, radio shows, and movies have all contributed to the
romanticism of America's Old West. Television brought us
Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Movies have come through time to
further emphasize people's romantic ideas of the Old West. Movies
that come to mind include Far and Away in 1992, True Grit in
1969, Two Mules for Sister Sara in 1970, Dances With Wolves
in 1990, and Tombstone in 1993. And then there were my two
favorite westerns of all-time, Support Your Local Sheriff and
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid which both came out in 1969.

(People love their westerns, and the Internet Movie Database gave
them the chance to rate their favorite western movies here:
http://www.imdb.com/chart/western)

People Still Think The West Is About The Cowboys And Indians

Even in today's communication age, some people still believe that
Oklahoma and Texas exist as it did in the 1890's. Back in the
late 1980's, I had traveled to Florida. While there, someone
asked me where I was from. When I said Oklahoma, they had this
puzzled look come across their face.

After a moment or two, this individual seemed to have made the
connection they were looking for. She asked me, So, how did you
get to Florida?

I was confused. I said, Well, I drove.

She responded, Oh, so you stopped along the way and bought a
car?

I said, No. I had the car before I left.

I could see a deer in the headlights moment, and then I heard
her soon-to-be-famous words, I thought everyone in Oklahoma rode
on horses and in wagons. What about the Indians? Do you all still
have problems with the Indians?

True story. No kidding. It is hard to

REFLUX GONE FOREVER, Natural Acid Reflux Remedies

Could A Supplement Called MSM Be The Answer?

Acid reflux or gerd (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is a
condition in which fluid splashes up from the stomach into the
esophagus. This fluid contains mostly acid with some pepsin and
bile. All three of these fluids are potentially dangerous to the
sensitive esophageal tissue, with acid being the most harmful.
This refluxed fluid can inflame and damage the lining of the
esophagus (esophagitis). If this condition is allowed to become
chronic, it can in time develop into Barrett's esophagus, which
is the precursor of esophageal cancer.

Over 15 million Americans experience acid reflux daily. People
at all ages are susceptible to this condition. Older people who
suffer from acid reflux tend to be more seriously affected than
younger people. 13,000 people are diagnosed with esophageal
cancer each year. At least 12,000 people die from it. The
overall survival rate is very poor. Acid reflux is the greatest
known risk factor for developing Barrett's Esophagus, which can
become esophageal cancer.

Barrett's esophagus occurs when chronic acid reflux or
esophagitis is not controlled. Through constant inflammation and
damage, the normal cells that line the esophagus called squamous
cells turn into specialized columnar cells. Columnar cells are
not normally found in human beings and can become cancerous.

Although this can happen to anyone, it usually occurs in people
over forty who have had regular bouts of heartburn for more than
five years. Some of the symptoms are difficulty in swallowing
and being awakened in the night by the pain of heartburn. Some
people have no symptoms at all.

Scar tissue can develop from the constant attack of acid on the
tender lining of the esophagus. The tissue can become thickened
and hard, making the esophagus narrower. This can make it
difficult to swallow food or even water.

I am a firm believer in natural cures versus conventional
medicine. When I go to a doctor it is for diagnostic purposes
only. Then, instead of subjecting myself to a barrage of harmful
pills and painful procedures, I attempt to cure the condition
myself by using alternative methods. I have found that MSM
(methylsulfonylmethane) has the ability to soften scar tissue,
making it flexible and permeable. I believe that by taking MSM
on a regular basis, one can possibly avoid the severe problems

Creating a Realistic Budget

Your first three years of business are critical to your success -
or failure. Not only do start-up businesses have heavy one-time,
up-front expenses, but they're also tight on cash and funding.
So your first task is to create a realistic budget. This acts as
your blueprint for success.

Your preliminary budget outlines expected and conservative income
figures. Start with broad expense categories like utilities and
income, breaking these out into more detailed line items like
Utilities: telephone, Utilities: gas, Income: paperbacks, Income:
hardbacks, and so forth. Expenses are typically easier to project
than income. But income grows more and more predictable as time
goes by. For this reason, review and adjust your budget quarterly
and annually based on new data. (We'll talk more about this in
the final installment of this series).

Differentiate your one-time expenses (business license, legal
fees, signage, sales literature, and so forth) from your ongoing
expenses (leasing, utilities and insurance). Project figures out
a full three years with growth dependent on market research or
educated estimation. Add an extra 25 percent to all expenses to
cover unforeseen or emergency events.

Survive on as little capital investment as possible during your
first few years to ensure survival until you reach profitability.
Buy and budget only those items necessary to generate revenue.
Organize your budget into fixed and variable expenses. Your fixed
costs are those which remain stagnant from month to month,
including your building lease, utilities, advertising and
insurance, while your variable expenses are typically dependent
on sales, like commissions, inventory and shipping.

Avoid optional or unnecessary purchases. Nearly every penny you
save goes into your pocket. So don't give in to temptation by
spending $1,000 on a new desk. Buy only what's necessary to
generate revenue and allocate money toward items receiving the
strongest ROI. You can always upgrade down the road once your
businesses is better established and income is more predictable.
The leaner your organization, the better.

Finding Funding

Every business needs start-up capital. These funds help you
purchase furniture and fixtures, computers and inventory while
still bringing in a livable wage during the first few years when
most companies see more red than black. But how much you need and
where this funding comes from differs from business to business.

As much as we might like to be, we're not all talented writers
like the best-selling author of the Harry Potter books series,
J.K. Rowling. Those of us who aren't skilled writers (and
probably some who are!) sometimes struggle with finding the right
words to say. Lucky for us, we can send flowers to say it without
words...or can we? What about that card that goes along with the
flowers? What do we say there?

Don't panic! Your florist is a skilled professional who can
create the perfect floral gift for any occasion that will say
exactly what you want it to, whether it's I love you,
Happy birthday, or Sorry for your loss. In truth, you
don't need to write much more on the card that accompanies the
flowers than your name so the recipient knows who sent the
extremely thoughtful gift. But, there are certainly some
occasions when you'd like to add a few extra words.

When you're searching for the right words, ask your florist for
suggestions. Your florist has assisted numerous customers with
sending flowers for every occasion you can imagine. And, since
many orders are placed over the telephone, your florist has heard
lots of clever and wonderful messages for flower cards.

If you're a little shy about asking your florist for help,
though, here are a few ideas to help you along:

 * Anniversary

For all these years you have been my first thought in the
morning and my last thought at night.

Still looking forward to spending the rest of my life with
you.

 * Apology

Accept these flowers in place of the words I said.

Will these keys let me out of the doghouse? I'm sorry.

 * Birthday

Wishing you a year filled with the same joy you bring to
others!

Enjoy this gift that's as beautiful as the birthday girl
herself.

 * Cheer Up

Sending sunny thoughts to brighten your day.

I hope these ruin a perfectly bad day.

 * Congratulations

Stunning performance!

A standing ovation for you!

 * Get Well

Hoping these flowers brighten not only your room, but your
heart.

Loving thoughts are tucked inside this bundle of flowers.

 * Housewarming

May those who visit your home feel the love residing there.

There's no place like home! Congratulations.

 * Love/Romance

I usually tell you 'I love you' two or three times a day.
Today I'll make it a dozen.

If actions speak louder than words, this is my way of
shouting.

 * New Birth

We share in your celebration of the new life you created!

Babies are special, babies are fun, congratulations on your new
little one!

 * Sympathy

Please accept these flowers and hear the words we are not able
to speak.

May you take
