Re: [Tiff] JPEG2000 support
It's indeed used in slide imaging fairly commonly, but with "non-conforming" TIFFtags (33003 and 33005 instead of 34712), and essentially to Leonard's point... why? It's a historical artifact from 20-year-old CPUs: the tradeoff here is essentially a Gaussian pyramid for speed vs a Laplacian pyramid for compression. JPEG 2000 pyramid support is actually quite fabulous, to the point of "pyramidal is what JPEG 2000 is, all the way through". Its browser compatibility is quite a bit less so... Re: [Tiff] JPEG2000 support
Tiled pyramidal TIFF, with jp2k compression for tiles, is quite commonly used for slide imaging. jp2k format pyramid support is not great, unfortunately. Re: [Tiff] JPEG2000 support
Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do that? JPEG2000 offers it own, ISO standardized, image file format container. What is the benefit of putting JP2K compression into TIFF? Are you thinking about the lossy or lossless options? Re: [Tiff] JPEG2000 support
It's pretty straightforward to do it yourself via the "RawTile" calls.
