[time-nuts] GR 1115B
Hi The 1115B got here yesterday. It seems to work pretty well. Not to surprisingly it's drifted a bit over the last 35 years. It's right at one end of it's 2.7x10^-7 tune range. From what I can see in the manual there's an adjustment on the crystal board that might bring it back onto frequency. Since getting there involves disassembling the dewar flask / oven combination I'm a little hesitant to dive right in. Has anybody torn into one of these before? If so what am I likely to run into? Everything I can see is wide open and very easy to work on. I'm hoping the oven is built the same way. Thanks! [time-nuts] PICTIC II PIC chips from Bob D. - Update
Hi guys, The chips should go out Monday. I've been insanely busy working this week out in Arizona so all I did was program the 35 chips that were ordered. I'll contact those that wanted the excess chips (roughly 5 chips total) in the order they emailed me so we can arrange payment. All chips will be mailed in proper IC anti-static tubes with rubber stops at the ends. I'll cut them down so they fit in the padded envelopes nicely. With any luck I'll get them to the post office early Monday and you guys should see them by the end of the week. Once I'm back home in NM, I'll send out another email to the list asking for interest. I'm happy to do this again for the group but I can't focus on it till I'm back on the 15th. Thanks guys, Bob, N3XKB ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
[time-nuts] PICTIC II and the 74AC175 Chips - Heathkid
Hello everyone. It seems I'm not receiving all emails from the list. I'm checking on two PCs (one IMAP and one POP3 both set to not delete emails from the server) and neither one have all the emails I'm finding in the archives. I'm actually missing entire days. I haven't figured out what the problem is yet on my end... but I seem to have missed out on some rather important emails (I'm now having to rely on the archives to find the missing emails). Anyway, I ordered 6 of the PICTIC II boards and I think they are on the way. I think I'm on the list for the programmed PICs from Bob D. but I'm not sure. I also missed any and all emails regarding the 74AC175 Chips and need some. Can anyone please help me out? Also, please contact me privately off list as well until I get this problem with not receiving all the time-nuts list emails sorted out. Thank you. 73 Brice KA8MAV ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there.
Re: [time-nuts] GR 1115B
First I suggest you let it run for a couple of weeks to see if it will come into range. It can take time for moisture to be driven out and stresses to be relieved. If you have to go into it, it comes apart very easily. Just be very careful not to break the flask. You probably couldn't get a replacement. Regards. Max. K 4 O D S. Re: [time-nuts] Can Lady Heather Keep Computer Clock On Time?
On 07/29/2010 03:57 PM, Mark Sims wrote: Yes, there is a time sync command that causes the program to set the system clock at periodic intervals or whenever it differs from GPS by a given amount. I'm still out on the Project From Hell Mark II and I don't remember all the gory details... I think /TSA on the command line says sync the time whenever the clocks differ by a millisecond. There is also /TSO /TSD /TSH /TSM /TSS to set it once, hourly, daily, every minute or second. There is also a /TSX command to specify the time offset from the Tbolt serial command to GPS (which is usually around 45 milliseconds). TS from the keyboard just syncs the clock once. ___ time-nuts mailing list -- time-nuts@febo.com To unsubscribe, go to https://www.febo.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/time-nuts and follow the instructions there. I realize this request is for Windows, but I thought I'd mention this for the benefit of others. I'm using tboltd by Ralph Smith on Linux. It provides the time to ntpd and LH 3.00 beta can talk to tboltd via the TCP connection, so monitoring can happen at the same time as the ntpd. It works great on Linux, as well as BSD (for which it was designed): http://www.mail-archive.com/time-nuts@febo.com/msg26129.html It runs well under wine like this: wine heather.exe /IP=localhost:45000 /TW=250 The /etc/ntp.conf config file stanza looks like this. (I admit I've guessed at the 0.0275 delay.) # for attached GPS tos mindist 0.030 server 127.127.28.0 minpoll 4 maxpoll 4 prefer fudge 127.127.28.0 time1 0.0275 stratum 1 refid GPS Serious use would probably call for a Soekris box, but not so serious use lets me use the tbolt time signal for free, as I have it on for the 10MHz reference.
