[tips] Feedback on Psychology Today
I am asking for feedback from the experts on the research/teaching value of Psychology today. This month's issue had, (in my humble High School Psychology teacher opinion), great articles on sleep disorders and personality traits correlated with astrological signs. I know in the past many professionals have dismissed the research in this publication. Can any of you help me here? On the surface this seems to be good information that I can share with my students. In looking over my notes on behavior genetics, and I have a reference for the Go to bed with me experiment. Re: ETS panel opportunity
Is this opportunity only open to College faculty? I teach AP Psychology on the High School level? Mr. Denson Psychology Teacher Kempsville High School [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] 12/17/02 09:46AM Hello Tipsters I missed out on this interesting opportunity because by the time I responded ETS already had two people from California. They asked me to send this out in hopes of getting panelists from states other than CA, TX, AZ, WA, and OR The College-Level Examination Program is a credit-by-examination testing program administered on campus that allows students to obtain college credit for what they have learned in school, on the job, or through independent study. CLEP candidates are adults returning to continue their education, traditional college students and high school students. This CLEP Introductory to Psychology web-based standard setting study seeks to evaluate the difficulty of each question in the test and determine how an average student would perform on each question. The panel of experts will consist of 20 university and college teaching professionals. We need your help in identifying faculty for the panel. The panelists will be working on line for the four week period from February 3 through February 28, 2003 for an average of one hour per day during this period (depending on how quickly individuals go through the study). On Wednesday, February 5 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. EST there will be a real-time online discussion with all judges. During the study they will take the test, discuss characteristics of B and C-level students, estimate test question difficulty and discuss their views with other panelists. The discussions will be guided by a facilitator who is a test developer or a statistician. The honorarium will be $300 payable upon completion of the study. Please provide Pat McSorley, (609) 683-2777 with a list of college faculty who are specialists in Introductory to Psychology. Here are some general guidelines for the list. Faculty should be: 1. Currently or recently (past year) have taught 2 years Introductory to Psychology. The test covers material that is usually taught in college Introductory Psychology courses.Judges come primarily from CLEP-credit granting institutions, but we are also interested in including faculty from non-CLEP institutions. 2. Diverse: gender, racial, ethnic, geographical representation to the extent possible 3. Diverse: content representation to match the subject domain and the test specs. For example, the US History standard setting panel consisted of Political, Social, Economic, Diplomatic and Cultural historians with a strong representation ofSocial historians because the test specs reflected this concentration. Please give us their names, institutions and whenever possible, their telephone numbers, and E-mail addresses.
