compatibility package

2005-06-14 Thread Ricardo Miguel Machado Marques
Hi all.

I'm probably asking something already asked before so Sorry in Advance.

I've installed Tomcat 5.5 and have JRE 1.4.2

I can't star a service because of the compatibility issue.

My problem is that I can't seem to be able to find what should I
download and where to save it in order to solve this situation.

TIA

Ricardo Miguel Marques

2005-05-31 Thread Dave Guzda
Hello,

I'm trying to get Tomcat 5.5 running and I need to use Java 1.4.2. It seems I
require the 'compatibility package' to make this happen. Exactly where is this
available to download, i can't seem to find it.

Thanks

Thanks Dave, but I found it...

I had 'compatibility' in my mind and overlooked 'compat'. :) Now to get it
working...

Thanks for the quick replies - always impressive for a noob to the list ;)

JMX on Tomcat 5.5.9, JDK1.4 broken even with compatibility package?

2005-04-17 Thread Paul ANDERSON
In the change log for TC5.5.9, there is a claim that MX4J 3.0.1 has been
integrated instead of 2. The JAR in bin from the compatibility package
for JDK1.4 matches MX4J 3.0.1. But if I put the other 3.0.1 JARs in
common/lib and configure Coyote to use jk2.properties with
mx.enabled=true, using JDK1.4.2_07 on RHEL3, the connector tries to load
an MX4J version 2 jrmp adaptor class.

SEVERE: MX4j RMI adapter not loaded: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException:
mx4j.adaptor.rmi.jrmp.JRMPAdaptor

Is it because there is a new configuration style when using 3.0.1 to
allow JSR160 RMI/http remoting with JDK1.4?

Or is it expected that MX4J version 2 will still be used in the case of
JDK1.4? (Seems not, because of the compatibility package)

Or have I done something wrong?

Thanks for any help everyone,

Paul

Where to download the Compatibility Package for running Tomcat 5.5 with 1.4 jdk?

Dear Members,

On the documentation there is a comment about downloading the Compatibility
Package in order to run Tomcat 5.5 under 1.4.x version. I don't see such
package on the download section.

Do you have any idea where to find such package?

Tanks in advance,

No, but there is no link to this addres on the Introduction documentation about
Tomcat 5.5

On this link:
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.5-doc/setup.html

There is a following comment:

If using a J2SE 1.4 JRE, the compatibility package must be downloaded and
expanded inside the folder where Tomcat was installed

but there is no mention about where to download it, I have checked on the
download page, but I didn't see a package with a similar name.

Thanks,

David

Compatibility Package

2005-03-01 Thread Aron Beal
Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to work with the latest stable(5.5.7) tomcat on OSX. Running
the shutdown script gives me this message:

This release of Apache Tomcat was packaged to run on J2SE 5.0
or later. It can be run on earlier JVMs by downloading and
installing a compatibility package from the Apache Tomcat
binary download page.
From RUNNING.txt, I get this:
Download the compat package from the binary download site:
http://jakarta.apache.org/site/binindex.cgi
Going there, I can not find this package anywhere. Googling will yield
the API docs for the package, but as for the package itself, there is no
sign.

As Java is not past 1.4.2 on OSX, upgrading the java install is not a
possibility.

Would very much appreciate if someone could pass along a link.
Thanks in advance,
Aron

The Compat.zip package is shown for each 5.5.x level.

Where is the compatibility package

2005-02-23 Thread lars.bjerges
I have downloaded Tomcat 5.5.8 and found that a prereq is J2SE 5.0 and later
(document: release notes)
but to run in a J2SE Version 1.4 or 1.3 (document: running.txt) you can
download the
compatibility package, it is said to be available from the binary download
site:

http://jakarta.apache.org/site/binindex.cgi

I have tried to locate the download but failed.

Does anybody know where it resides?

Thank you in advance.
