I just looked at the code and changed the position of the one line, where

Actually, this could be generalized to having a list of related paths
for the currently browsed path. This would make the implementation doable
as a plugin and then the svn backend could do it one way, the Mercurial
plugin another way, etc.

Plus this would allow for links to other systems as well, like
documentation systems, like the [http://trac-

I see--I had some users complaining about this, and thought it might be a

I still wonder if there isn't a better solution. But I'll have to think

Comment (by cboos):

We could support source:file#rev and source:file#Lxyz (with xyz a line
number) at the same time, and in the latter case use the youngest rev, so
it's not a technical issue, it's more that we don't want to encourage
creating links that will most certainly become non-sense over time.

In the few cases where you're pretty sure the meaning of a line number
will remain the same over time (near top of the file, source file below
/tags, or nearly frozen branches, etc.), you could still use [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Someone also proposed being able to link to function name or class names
within source files, and I think that's a good idea, which I still keep in
mind for doing later, when we implement the necessary infrastructure to
post-process the result of code highlighters (see #1520 and #1292).

Replying to [comment:3 mgood]:

 Did you try the patch, or are you just basing that on looking at the
change?

 In Python the preferred way to pass variables into a SQL query is
through parameterized queries. When you execute a query like
`cursor.execute(sql, params)` the database driver handles substituting the
parameters into the query and making sure they are properly escaped, so
you shoudn't need to do any quoting in the SQL string.

You're right, your patch is better. I still haven't used it though.

I tested with r3622 and it is working pretty good. BR

But when you rename the milestone and Retarget associated open

I think Trac just took the wrong milestone name to update the table. So
just a hopefully small problem...

Yes I believe there are several:
 * Special:
 * User:
 * Category:

... And I'm not familiar enough with it to know if there are more. I
think another option would be to create one kind of InterWiki link for
this type of link, like:

{}

Then I can use `MyWikiTyped:User:Dmahn`.

This may be a way to keep down the number of links to remember/manage.
However, after sleeping on it, I think option b. would ultimately be most
intuitive:

{}

What do you think?

Currently, to include a line number in a link, the revision also has to be
specified, for example: ![source:/path/to/[EMAIL PROTECTED] However, a link
like ![source:/path/to/file#L5] will end up linking to the file at
revision 5. This is just a simple change to the regexp used.

Comment (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):

just a me too re: support for remote SVN repositories. we want to use
trac but our sysadmin team already has a stand-alone SVN server set up.

the on-the-same-box requirement may be fine for small teams (or teams
with that kind of independence), but in large organizations where there is
a separation of responsibilities this requirement can be a show-stopper.

Comment:

The idea was to make the revision mandatory on purpose, as a line numbers
aren't good for permanent reference, i.e. what's at line 100 at rev. 1000
will probably have nothing to do with what's at line 100 at rev. 2000.

If you really want to refer to the last revision of a file, you can use
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

But I'm open to other opinions.

Note also that at least for 0.10, we must still support the
source:file#rev (deprecated) syntax.

Comment:

Among the possible workarounds, there's also `svnsync`,
which is a new tool part of Subversion 1.4.
It allows to easily replicate repositories, from URL / to URL, which gives
you a great deal of flexibility.

For example, you can set up a post-commit hook on the central repository
that will trigger the replication to a slave repository on the server
where you run Trac. Alternatively, on that Trac host, you can periodically
call `svnsync` which will pull new revisions from the central repository.

I've tested that tool with 1.4.0rc5, and it works fine.
Of course you could have done the above using svk mirror, but `svnsync` is
more straightforward to install and use.

Comment (by mgood):

Replying to [comment:2 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
 mgood, your patch still has the problem of not quoting schema names so
if the schema name is something like my-project, creation of the schema
will fail.
 The SQL statement must be: CREATE SCHEMA my-project

Did you try the patch, or are you just basing that on looking at the
change?

In Python the preferred way to pass variables into a SQL query is through
parameterized queries. When you execute a query like
`cursor.execute(sql, params)` the database driver handles substituting the
parameters into the query and making sure they are properly escaped, so
you shoudn't need to do any quoting in the SQL string.

Comment (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):

No problem!

However, I've reconsidered about breaking out the extra arguments (i.e.
`(numargs - 1)`). That could work badly for duplicated or missing
arguments, so probably should just do all or nothing -- split them all or
none. Otherwise, would have to check the actual numbers of each argument
and find the highest number.

I'm still a little perplexed about Python's callbacks. I mean, they don't
seem to have any extra arguments to put pointers, etc. into. For instance
... the re.sub() function could be used to find the max argument number
(not replacing the strings, but examining them), but the function doesn't
take an extra argument that could be used to accumulate the max value.

I'm having an unrelated problem like that, where there is a callback for
each line of data, but I just want to accumulate them all (for FTP). I
can use a globals() thing, but I would hate to do that.

I tried to set up a new Trac using 0.10b1 and the MySQL backend.
Installation went well and the install came up and worked exactly as
expected. However, the next day, I'm receiving error 2006 (MySQL server
has gone away) from the MySQLdb driver.

As far as I can tell, this is due to the idle timeout MySQL uses for
client connections (8 hours by default, see
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/gone-away.html). Restarting the web
server resurrects the connections. I can even refresh the browser view a
few times and it will come back to life. I imagine this is because the
handler now sees an invalid connection and creates a new one.

Here is the Python traceback:

{{{

The suggested fix would be to trap error 2006 and immediately attempt to
reconnect to the database. If the error is returned again, go ahead and
fail.

I can't seem to find any good information on this message, related to the
libsvn or svn libraries at all. I really am not all that familiar with
Python itself either, and I'm not sure what to try. I did notice (from
playing around with it) that I get a different message if the _fs.dll file
is missing.

The internal error message says No module named _fs and the trace back
looks the same as above.

I searched on both the subversion.tigris.org site as well as the
tortoisesvn.tigris.org site for more information but not much was found
about this message. Some googling yeilded some similar error messages
with a product called viewcvs, but I'm not sure there was any kind of
fix for the error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Probably the latter, what do others think?

After upgrading to 0.10b1 using {}
I can see that the wiki page TracTickets contains a link
to:

I am missing a local graphic file since I work mostly offline from the
internet.

(I think if you install trac, the doc shoulb be almost complete without
need for a direct internet connection)

I'm going to close this, as we lack detailed information; if someone still
experience locks that persist and requires a server restart, please
provide us with all the detailed information we need.

We believe that with the recent versions of SQLite and PySqlite, there are
no more persistent locks. Transient `OperationalError: database is
locked` are unfortunately quite common (see #3446 and #3503).

Comment:

Well, despite r3616 we still have a high rate of database is locked
error.

See #3503 for a short-term solution (an nice !TracError explaining what
happens instead of a backtrace).

Long-term, I think we should do the following:
 - Shorten our transactions. In particular, a main reason for the
problem seems to be the long periods of time during which SHARED locks are
held. The common programming idiom in Trac is to iterate over cursors,
performing some operation for each of the returned row. While this may
sounds a good approach which lowers memory consumption, it lengthens the
period during which a SHARED lock is held and during which not a single
write can be done. We should instead read everything in memory first,
then process the data. Of course, if there are some very
straightforward tasks (like filtering) that can be done while reading the
data, it could still be done by iterating over the cursor.
 - Also, if there are situations where not all the rows from a cursor are
fetched, the cursor should be closed, so that the SHARED lock can be
release as soon as possible.
 - Repeatable transactions: instead of doing writes into the
database as soon as we feel like doing so, we could pass a callback to the
database layer which will be used for writing all the information. The
advantage of this would be to be able to retry transparently the write
sequence if a `database is locked` exception is detected. This should
also play well with the journalling approach described in
TracDev/Proposals/Journaling.

We have updated regularly throughout 0.10dev and this is the first time we
have encountered this problem. The usual update procedure steps were
taken:

svn updateBR
sudo python setup.py installBR
sudo trac-admin /path/to/trac upgradeBR
sudo /usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache restart

Thanks for any pointers on this.

It'd be super-convenient if Trac offered a way to revert a particular
change to a ticket.

For example, at the Django Trac site, we
just got a ton of spam. (Yes, we have the spam plugins installed, but they
didn't catch this particular spammer.) Each spam changed the
priority/component/severity/milestone of a random ticket. So now I have to
go through each ticket and manually change those attributes to what they
were previously. Then I have to delete all of the comments themselves
(because they contained spam links).

Trac appears to keep track of old values and new values to tickets, for
each change, so it should be possible to automate the undoing of a given
ticket change.

It'd be nicest if there were a revert link next to each ticket, but,
personally, I'd be just as happy with a command-line script that takes the
ticket number and automatically reverts the latest ticket change for that
ticket:

{trac-admin revertcomment 243}

Looking closer at TracTicketsCustomFields shows that no label field is
available for select, even though it is shown as an example below it..
removing the label line produced a similar error.

After removing the lines from trac.ini I am left with am empty select pull
down menu on the new ticket page. My second issue is how can this empty
box be removed?

Thanks for your time! I hope this fixes another bug for the final 0.10

How about providing some kind of escape mechanism for colons in InterWiki
links.

Maybe something a little less horrible than using the following:

{}

instead of just:

{{{

Comment:

Where are you trying to use a colon in InterWiki links that requires
escaping?

I don't think that :s should be allowed in the InterWiki prefixes, since
this will just lead to confusion. However, if there's another problem
with the use of colons in InterWiki links please provide an explanation.

Comment (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]):

It's for our general Wiki, which is based on
MediaWiki. We just use Trac for
individual projects. !MediaWiki was our first Wiki engine; it has a lot
of history, and it is not practical to move that stuff to Trac.

!MediaWiki uses colons in some of the URLs. For instance, my user page
would be at `User:Dmahn`, so I'd like to use an InterWiki link of the
form: `MyOtherWiki:User:Dmahn`.

I have two other ideas about this:

 a. Just create a different InterWiki link for each type of link with a
colon.
 b. Try to check the InterWiki output format while parsing the link, and
if there aren't any parameters then don't bother splitting any arguments
for it.

InterWiki needs special attention for the colons. Plain URLs with colons
(e.g. `http://digidescorp.com/wiki/User:Dmahn`) don't cause problems.

[Trac-tickets] [The Trac Project] #3631: embedding an image in a (unordered) list item after a linebreak creates a new paragraph

2006-08-28 Thread The Trac Project
#3631: embedding an image in a (unordered) list item after a linebreak creates a
new paragraph
-+--
Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: jonas

I wanted an image inside a list item.
The Image should be indented and be arranged like the text.

With the Code
{}
I'll get the html-code
{}

So an extra paragraph-tag for the image is generated.

If I use the following code (Text, BR and Image in one line) it works as
it should.
{}

It also works when I indent the Image-Code (brackets) so that it fits to
the list-item text:
{}

I think it would be interesting to keep the usual paragraph style
consistent for the whole wiki.

I wrote a large E-Mail (in Outlook, HTML) to give my colleagues some
support and made some use of unordered lists and soft-linebreaks.

To 'archive' the mail and keep the content in a better environment I did
copy the Mail (HTML-View) and pasted it in to my wiki-page. After adding
some wiki-code I was done.

But in the preview I got
{}
although my wiki-code was:
{}

After deleting the linebreaks (combining to one line of text and then
using enter) the preview (and result) was as it should be.

So there was some hidden markup that came via copypaste.
I would recommend a clean-button to remove this stuff.

 I think it would be interesting to keep the usual paragraph style
consistent for the whole wiki.

The rule is that whenever you dedent, i.e. start a line on a column
which is at the left of the current indentation level, you loose an
indentation level, eventually going out of list mode if you were at the
first level.

... and it's exactly what happens here, the fact that you use a macro is
not relevant, same will happen for plain text:

{{{
 * This is my item. BR More text.

 * This is my item. br
More text.

Replying to [comment:1 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
 !IntOption and !BoolOption should both probably catch !ValueError, and
raise a TracError with a more decriptive error.

A descriptive error when the setting is unparsable (i.e. abc - int)
would be good, though if the setting is blank it should probably use
`None` as the value.

Regarding a restart, I agree. According to InterMapTxt, New !InterWiki

Could requiring a restart be classified as a defect?

#3629: Akismet filter is much too restrictive

Well, I tried to do the following change on TracChangeset, from:
{}
to:
{}

but forgot to login... then I got the Akismet rejected change error
message.

If this happens for such minor changes, I wonder how much contributions we
still can get from our users...

Compared this with spam which still gets in despite the filter
(comment:ticket:1459:28), and I wonder how effective the Akismet filter
really is...

So maybe we should try to find a better anti-spam system, and quickly
disable Akismet which prevents valid contributions.

The change in question:

(same thing for this comment: I first tried as anonymous, and bam,
Akismet rejected spam again...)
