It allows to easily replicate repositories, from URL / to URL, which gives you a great deal of flexibility. For example, you can set up a post-commit hook on the central repository that will trigger the replication to a slave repository on the server where you run Trac. Alternatively, on that Trac host, you can periodically call `svnsync` which will pull new revisions from the central repository. I've tested that tool with 1.4.0rc5, and it works fine. However, I've reconsidered about breaking out the extra arguments (i.e. `(numargs - 1)`). That could work badly for duplicated or missing arguments, so probably should just do all or nothing -- split them all or none. Otherwise, would have to check the actual numbers of each argument and find the highest number. I'm still a little perplexed about Python's callbacks. I mean, they don't seem to have any extra arguments to put pointers, etc. into. For instance ... the re.sub() function could be used to find the max argument number (not replacing the strings, but examining them), but the function doesn't take an extra argument that could be used to accumulate the max value. I'm having an unrelated problem like that, where there is a callback for each line of data, but I just want to accumulate them all (for FTP). [Trac-tickets] [The Trac Project] #3645: Trac 0.10b1 MySQL connections don't reconnect after idle timeout
#3645: Trac 0.10b1 MySQL connections don't reconnect after idle timeout +--- Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: jonas Type: defect | Status: new Priority: high| Milestone: 0.10 Component: general | Version: devel Severity: major |Keywords: mysql +--- I tried to set up a new Trac using 0.10b1 and the MySQL backend. Installation went well and the install came up and worked exactly as expected. However, the next day, I'm receiving error 2006 (MySQL server has gone away) from the MySQLdb driver. As far as I can tell, this is due to the idle timeout MySQL uses for client connections (8 hours by default, see http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/gone-away.html). Restarting the web server resurrects the connections. I can even refresh the browser view a few times and it will come back to life. I imagine this is because the handler now sees an invalid connection and creates a new one. Here is the Python traceback: {} The suggested fix would be to trap error 2006 and immediately attempt to reconnect to the database. See #3503 for a short-term solution (an nice !TracError explaining what happens instead of a backtrace). Long-term, I think we should do the following: - Shorten our transactions. In particular, a main reason for the problem seems to be the long periods of time during which SHARED locks are held. The common programming idiom in Trac is to iterate over cursors, performing some operation for each of the returned row. While this may sounds a good approach which lowers memory consumption, it lengthens the period during which a SHARED lock is held and during which not a single write can be done. We should instead read everything in memory first, then process the data. Of course, if there are some very straightforward tasks (like filtering) that can be done while reading the data, it could still be done by iterating over the cursor. - Also, if there are situations where not all the rows from a cursor are fetched, the cursor should be closed, so that the SHARED lock can be release as soon as possible. - Repeatable transactions: instead of doing writes into the database as soon as we feel like doing so, we could pass a callback to the database layer which will be used for writing all the information. The advantage of this would be to be able to retry transparently the write sequence if a `database is locked` exception is detected. This should also play well with the journalling approach described in TracDev/Proposals/Journaling. -- Ticket URL: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/3446#comment:4 The Trac Project http://trac.edgewall.com/ ___ Trac-Tickets mailing list Trac-Tickets@lists.edgewall.com http://lists.edgewall.com/mailman/listinfo/trac-tickets

For example, at the Django Trac site, we just got a ton of spam. (Yes, we have the spam plugins installed, but they didn't catch this particular spammer.) Each spam changed the priority/component/severity/milestone of a random ticket. So now I have to go through each ticket and manually change those attributes to what they were previously. Then I have to delete all of the comments themselves (because they contained spam links). Trac appears to keep track of old values and new values to tickets, for each change, so it should be possible to automate the undoing of a given ticket change. It'd be nicest if there were a revert link next to each ticket, but, personally, I'd be just as happy with a command-line script that takes the ticket number and automatically reverts the latest ticket change for that ticket: {trac-admin revertcomment 243} -- Ticket URL: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/3641 The Trac Project http://trac.edgewall.com/ ___ Trac-Tickets mailing list Trac-Tickets@lists.edgewall.com http://lists.edgewall.com/mailman/listinfo/trac-tickets

We just use Trac for individual projects. !MediaWiki was our first Wiki engine; it has a lot of history, and it is not practical to move that stuff to Trac. !MediaWiki uses colons in some of the URLs. For instance, my user page would be at `User:Dmahn`, so I'd like to use an InterWiki link of the form: `MyOtherWiki:User:Dmahn`. I have two other ideas about this: a. Just create a different InterWiki link for each type of link with a colon. b. Try to check the InterWiki output format while parsing the link, and if there aren't any parameters then don't bother splitting any arguments for it. InterWiki needs special attention for the colons. Plain URLs with colons (e.g. `http://digidescorp.com/wiki/User:Dmahn`) don't cause problems. -- Ticket URL: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/3643#comment:2 The Trac Project http://trac.edgewall.com/ ___ Trac-Tickets mailing list Trac-Tickets@lists.edgewall.com http://lists.edgewall.com/mailman/listinfo/trac-tickets

The Image should be indented and be arranged like the text. With the Code {} I'll get the html-code {} So an extra paragraph-tag for the image is generated. If I use the following code (Text, BR and Image in one line) it works as it should. {} It also works when I indent the Image-Code (brackets) so that it fits to the list-item text: {} I think it would be interesting to keep the usual paragraph style consistent for the whole wiki. -- Ticket URL: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/3631 The Trac Project http://trac.edgewall.com/ ___ Trac-Tickets mailing list Trac-Tickets@lists.edgewall.com http://lists.edgewall.com/mailman/listinfo/trac-tickets

To 'archive' the mail and keep the content in a better environment I did copy the Mail (HTML-View) and pasted it in to my wiki-page. After adding some wiki-code I was done. But in the preview I got {} although my wiki-code was: {} After deleting the linebreaks (combining to one line of text and then using enter) the preview (and result) was as it should be. The rule is that whenever you dedent, i.e. start a line on a column which is at the left of the current indentation level, you loose an indentation level, eventually going out of list mode if you were at the first level. ... and it's exactly what happens here, the fact that you use a macro is not relevant, same will happen for plain text: {{{ * This is my item. #3629: Akismet filter is much too restrictive -+-- Reporter: cboos| Owner: jonas Type: defect | Status: new Priority: high | Milestone: Component: general | Version: devel Severity: major|Keywords: akismet -+-- Well, I tried to do the following change on TracChangeset, from: {} to: {} but forgot to login... then I got the Akismet rejected change error message. If this happens for such minor changes, I wonder how much contributions we still can get from our users... Compared this with spam which still gets in despite the filter (comment:ticket:1459:28), and I wonder how effective the Akismet filter really is... So maybe we should try to find a better anti-spam system, and quickly disable Akismet which prevents valid contributions. -- Ticket URL: http://trac.edgewall.org/ticket/3629 The Trac Project http://trac.edgewall.com/ ___ Trac-Tickets mailing list Trac-Tickets@lists.edgewall.com http://lists.edgewall.com/mailman/listinfo/trac-tickets
