1. Install adobe flash player activeX. Use a standalone installer. 2. Setup the dll overrides for ym9 and use # regedit ym9.reg 3. Get the dlls into windows\system32. Use winetricks or equivalent to get these dlls. 4. Open ROX-Filer and look for any .exe in wine (ex: /root/.wine/drive_c/windows/explorer.exe). Right click on it and set run action to 'wine $@ 2/dev/null'. This allows you to run any .exe from ROX. Though, this step is not that important. Not a new problem at all. I have got this problem on my old Fedora. When you start an X session a new record is appended to ~/.ICEauthority file and when you shut down ur X, X authorization records automatically removes from ~/.ICEauthority file. If you have a crash, still records can hang around in that file, and if you start a new session, there could be a chance that you would use the same socket id and be denied access. Remove .ICEauthority files from your home directory. You can do this in the failsafe terminal. At next X session start, it should be recreated automatically. I was never actually Gnome user or fan, I started my life with KDE 3. But after releasing Fedora 9, KDE 4 Beta was available with it. This is not the fact that, I ddn't like KDE 4 Beta, but I always hated the great KDE 4 crashes and bugs (told u, so many times). So I had to switch to Gnome for a while. However, when I used Gnome, I cudn't stop myself to use KDE apps. It ll depends, if the virus uses a kernel issue, changes are small it'll work on Wine (as the change of having exactly the same mistake in both windows kernel code and wine code is small. But if it's using bugs of the program being run than it might work just the same as on a real windows environment. Using a fake windows directory is encouraged as Wine might otherwise have troubled with windows registeries being filled with unknown trash; also by using one or multiple fake windows directories, you can avoid loosing any real information caused by virus activity. Then, if you got infected, you'd just remove the infected directories and grab the fresh copy. lOl. I am glad, it worked. :P Well, the story is, recently I have bought a new PC. It has Intel GMA X4500 HD integrated graphics card, which is the best built in graphics card ever made in history of Intel (Dx 10, Open GL 2, Pixel Shadder 4). However, problem started, when I tried to install Fedora 10, GUI installer didn´t work. Same thing with Ubuntu and other major distros (so far I have tried more then 10 distros). However later, using VESA graphics driver I could install and run Fedora 10 and Ubutnu 8.10 / 9.04. But I have a wide screen LCD, and VESA does not support wide screen resolution properly yet. And it is a pain 1024*768 resolution in a wide screen monitor. So I did a little digging in Google. And what I found it didn´t help me solving my problem, but, because of continuously playing with xorg, I think, I understand now, what is an xorg actually does (at least in case of Intel driver). In case of Ubuntu 9.04 what I found: Intel manages its drivers in an exemplary open source way, but 2D and 3D acceleration has fairly much dragged so far. The reason is an unhappy pairing of the current Kernel 2.6.28's Kernel Mode Setting (KMS) with Intel's new UXA acceleration architecture that replaces EXA and the newly added Graphics Execution Manager (GEM) in the Kernel. So if you reverting to the old xorg Intel driver which has not any UXA acceleration or GEM, so it will work fine (though in some case 3D acceleration won´t work). In case of Fedora 11, Intel driver has not any problem because, it enables KMS by default for Intel chipsets. PS: First time, it could not find the xorg driver, because you just added two new repo, but you didn´t update the cache. So it can´t modify the xorg.conf file. Run nvidia-settings as root. Then change the resulation. And save it to xorg.conf file. I ve to say, and I might get some criticism for this but I think that lately the KDE team version by version ve been taking large steps in the wrong direction. They ve been doing a good job at making a Desktop Environment that feels almost invisible, but the general design of the Environment itself seems a little too much like a Vista (Widgets) and Mac (Theme) clone and this isn´t what Linux was originally designed to be, a clone. And I think, KDE 4 is the fact that they are going to break, the easy usability and user friendly design of the Linux operating system. KDE is now starting to demand more from the computer hardware in order to run, for example KDE 4.2 would not run on a computer with an 800MHz processor, less than 64MB of video, and 128MB of memory, where GNOME easily would. And the KDE has always made programs look more integrated with the Desktop Environment than as separate programs, and this kind of behaviour is more confusing and takes away more from the usability than it adds. Additionally, the KDE team have designed their own replacements for programs, so that they integrate better, nice, but when there is something already out there, it would probably be better, particularly for compatibility reasons, to use it instead, and just modify, add and remove features. I, myself a big fan of KDE 4.
