Thank you for the smb.conf files. However, I am still not able to reproduce this. Yes, I'm sure they can access the files. But upload a video and then try to play it directly from Samba with Totem (supposedly by streaming it). That's the problem. [Bug 243425] Re: please merge debianutils-2.29
This looks good. Some things to fix: - after you've gotten everything built and ready for upload, you'll need to run ../merge-genchanges from in the source tree, redirected into the ../$PKG...source.changes file so that all the changes since the last Ubuntu upload appear in the changes file. - for next time, to help reviewers, generate two files: - delta between current debian and current ubuntu (e.g. debdiff debianutils_2.29.dsc debianutils_2.29ubuntu1.dsc) which shows Ubuntu's changes - delta between old Ubuntu and new Ubuntu (e.g. debdiff debianutils_2.28.6ubuntu3 debianutils_2.29ubuntu1.dsc) which shows what changed in Debian. Once you've got the corrected (and signed) source.changes file up on rookery, I'll be happy to sponsor it (I already generated the debdiffs and looked them over). [Bug 243431] Re: Can't copy to disk mounted under a Samba share if space doesn't exist in the share
Thank you for taking your time to file this bug and help make Ubuntu better. As far as I have enquired, when you mount a remote file system on your local machine using your samba share, may be on a different partition, still it's size is only the size of the source file system and not of the local filesystem. Hence a 5MB remote FS mounted on a 10MB local FS is still 5MB only, as the remote FS can't take anything more than 5MB. Thus, what you are reporting is most probably not a bug at all but an existing constraint rather. If nobody else can confirm this as wrong, we should be closing this bug. -- Can't copy to disk mounted under a Samba share if space doesn't exist in the share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243431 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry, I mightn't have been clear here. The 10MB file system is mounted to a directory inside the 5MB file system on the remote server. [Bug 243431] Re: Can't copy to disk mounted under a Samba share if space doesn't exist in the share
To put it better, a samba shared FS on a local system is still representing a remote FS and the operation you want to do on it are nothing but what you want to be done on the remote FS. Thus, when the remote FS has only 5MB size it wouldn't be allowing any operation running out of space, like copying an 8MB file to it. When this remote FS is mounted on a local FS, it still needs to reflect the same character or else it doesn't fit as an ideal sharing of a remote FS locally. Hence, it shouldn't allow you to copy a file to the locally mounted shared FS, when the file is bigger than the space available in remote FS. If it allows you to copy it to locally mounted+shared FS, it doesn't make sense as it still can't be reflected on the remote server due to non-availability of space. Thus it is not a bug, but rather the most logical response not to allow copying a 8MB file over a remote shared FS of max size available=5MB, but locally mounted on an FS which has max avail size=10MB(as a local FS, but not when it represents the remote FS). If you can prove otherwise, please feel free to reopen this bug. Re: [Bug 192720] Re: Loading b43legacy freezes computer
@Martin: Please don't use this. While it does work, it is not a clean way of doing things. Deleting things is ugly, especially since the next kernel update will render your system unusable again (since it reinstalls the deleted files). Also, there is a clean(er) way, which probably should be documented instead of the 'deleting things way'. 1. Download the ubuntu alternate install cd (mind the 'alternate'). 2. Install your system using this (yes, it uses debian-installer instead of a live cd approach). Write down the chosen root partition (/dev/sda1 ?) 3. Reboot again from CD and choose: 'Rescue a broken system' 4. Say yes to a couple of things and then choose the correct root partition (you wrote it down, didn't you?) 5. Execute a shell in the root partition: # cd /etc/modprobe.d # vim blacklist (or use your favorite command-line editor) add the line: 'blacklist b43legacy' (without the quotes) save and exit # exit 6. Reboot Then, hook up to a cable or use a supported usb wifi card, enable updates, install kernel updates, remove the blacklist line and reboot. It should work now. If not, re-add the blacklist line and come back. Good luck! I tried to use dot from graphviz to visualize a graph produced by kprof for a program of mine, but I have found that it is unable to handle this particular graph file properly. The problem behaves differently with different output plugins. SVG works fine, but all other output types that I have tried have either caused dot to run forever and rapidly consume all available memory (jpg, gif) or have produced files that cause that in whatever program I try to view them with (ps, png). [Bug 238293] Re: Hardy cannot print to Epson Photo R2400
Hi there, I've got the same problem with my Epson Stylus C82. I've tried to print to this device using an Edimax printserver (1x parallel, 2 x USB) using the parallel port. The print process died throwing the message (CUPS 1.3.7 Hardy webinterface): /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster failed In Errorlog is following line: (/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster) crashed on signal 11! I've attached the errorlog in debug mode. I've tried several applications (firefox, gThumb,...) and document types (pdf, html,...) the result is always the same. C82 won't print. BTW: 1) Using printserver from W2k the C82 print properly! 2) Printing out of Hardy to my Konica Minolta 5430DL color laser printer, the output is OK regards, Frank/frigg ** Attachment added: cups-error.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15639162/cups-error.txt -- Hardy cannot print to Epson Photo R2400 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238293 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 106427] keyboard timing problem
Hi, I can not help you with this problem, beyond saying that the problem I experienced was due to the on board USB controller. I turned this controller off in the BIOS, installed a PCI USB card. This solved my problem completely. You may try turning off the USB controller on your machine to see if it is responsible for your keyboard timing problem. By the way, my keyboard was a PS/2, not a USB. Strange bug I know. I hope this helps you.
