[Bug 159357] Re: Improper format of Kerberos configuration file
This is fixed in the 1.6.dfsg.3-1 Debian release: * If krb5-config/default_realm isn't set, use EXAMPLE.COM as the realm so that the kdc.conf will at least be syntactically valid (but will still require editing). [Bug 72599] Re: Option no-addresses spelled wrong in man krb.conf (/usr/share/man/man5/krb5.conf.5.gz)
I'm not sure when it changed, but the current code matches the documentation. noaddresses is the correct option, and the default is true. -- Option no-addresses spelled wrong in man krb.conf (/usr/share/man/man5/krb5.conf.5.gz) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/72599 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to krb5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 44402] Re: krb5-admin-server fails during install
The package is behaving as intended from my perspective. I don't think it's sane to automatically create a new realm on package installation. You may want to do something else, like initialize from an existing realm or create a realm that doesn't match the local realm for testing. In fact, given the nature of KDCs, wanting to do something more cautious is I think more likely than not. -- krb5-admin-server fails during install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to krb5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 116745] Re: kerberos requires users to list themselves in .k5login
This is the intended behavior of Kerberos. So far as I know, it has always worked this way. I have never seen logins succeed if you have an empty .k5login file. I suspect something else was going on when you thought this used to work (such as having the .k5login file not be readable for some reason). It would break many systems to have an empty .k5login file still permit logins by principals that happen to match the local account name. -- kerberos requires users to list themselves in .k5login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to krb5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 243616] Re: KDE4.1 - no longer starts
Reuben, it is useful to test if bugs you report for KDE 4.0 are fixed in KDE 4.1 since the latter will be in Intrepid and does already fix many problems. I recommend you use project neon kde-nightly packages to do this, as you can install those alongside your KDE 4.0. For KDE 4.1, although it is now included with Kubuntu Intrepid alphas, for now it would be most effective to report bugs directly to bugs.kde.org. Thank you for testing and reporting your problems! For your compositing issue, try searching and/or asking on ubuntuforums.org or kubuntuforums.net or the kubuntu-users mailing list for help getting it working. Though FWIW, desktop effects work with nvidia-glx-new without any tweaking on both my systems. [Bug 248010] Re: Update manager is extremely problematic - had to cycle power to kill it
BB, Sorry if you couldn't get what Gaurish was asking for. We want to ensure that update-manager is indeed consuming system resources. For this, you can first check off Automatic Updates option in SystemAdministrationSoftware sourcesUpdates Tab. Hence, update manager wont run at startup. Now open a terminal, run top/htop. Open another terminal and update-manager. Now watch the top/htop output to see how much does the update-manager utilize system resources. Hope that helps? [Bug 238261] Re: gedit crash on save as
I can't agree with you Sebastien, for two reasons. First, I can assure you that the incorrect text in .gtk-bookmarks was created somewhere in the normal use/upgrade of Ubuntu. Neither the end user nor myself even knew of the existence of this file. I certainly did not edit it (until directed to do so as part of the debugging process), and the 80 year old user does not know how to display dot files, much less edit them. There are no other users of this machine. So this bug was created by the software on its own. Second, the bug has a massive impact - crashing all applications that use the Gnome file chooser, and that includes nearly everything an ordinary desktop user uses by default. frustration I don't mean to sound rude, but this is no way to get Ubuntu accepted as anything other than a geek's tinker-toy. I really thought that the open source community (and especially the Ubuntu community) had higher ideals than this. Please, I'm not trying to stand back and throw stones. I'll do everything I can to help solve this bug and popularise OSS, but not if the community doesn't take bugs like this seriously. My company has a large Windows installed base across many companies. I battle daily to get them to take OSS seriously. Now it sounds like I have to battle the OSS community to take their user experiences seriously. /frustration -- gedit crash on save as https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238261 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is the intended behavior of Kerberos. So far as I know, it has always worked this way. I have never seen logins succeed if you have an empty .k5login file. [Bug 207072] Re: nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS network.
Not sure if this bug is going down a different track from its 'duplicate' 241578? Just a hint that 241578, as described, worked absolutely fine in the LTS release of Hardy and stopped working after a specific automatic update. It might be worth looking at the changes made in that update - provide that they are not massively different of course.
-- krb5-admin-server fails during install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 119433] Re: When I play a video, I get a green screen
FIXED: Problem is two fold. First do the following to get the correct drivers: ...do this first... sudo apt-get install totem ...then... sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse ...then... sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh This should fit the bill and get your DVD player to read all DVD's. The second problem is my controller card. An old Intel on the MB (OLD Compaq machine). Fix this with: (as root or sudo it...) vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf Replace the Device section with: (assuming generic Kubuntu install) Section Device Identifier Configured Video Device # Driver i810 Driver intel # BusID PCI:0:2:0 Option VideoRam 65536 Option CacheLines 1980 Option LinearAlloc 8160 EndSection Although all you need really is the options to solve BadAlloc messages and slow/stutters of the DVD Then: sudo apt-get install vlc VLC works the best as a player. Xine works but you have to tweak the settings a bit. MPlayer uses xine, thus teaks. Dragon Player work well - some interlace. Totem works very well. (this was probably because I had already installed raop-play previously) Then the Update Manager icon on the top right icon bar turned to a stop sign (white bar on red circle), so I clicked it, and it said a partial installation had happened, and would I like it to clean up. Said yes. Then it said would I like it to delete the things it had cleaned up... said yes (probably my big mistake, but seemed reasonable at the time!). It then chugged away for several minutes (was getting a bit suspicious). When it finally completed, Lotus Notes had been uninstalled (that had been installed somewhat manually), and the Applications menu just gave the few little white pixels in the left corner that happens when there's no applications menu. I have attached the ~/.config/menus/applications.menu and the /etc/xdg/applications.menu that I was left with after this.
