[Bug 312345] [NEW] mysql versions prior to 5.0.74 have trouble export/import with leap seconds
Public bug reported: From the MySQL manual: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/time-zone-leap-seconds.html 9.7.2. Time Zone Leap Second Support Before MySQL 5.0.74, if the operating system is configured to return leap seconds from OS time calls or if the MySQL server uses a time zone definition that has leap seconds, functions such as NOW() could return a value having a time part that ends with :59:60 or :59:61. If such values are inserted into a table, they would be dumped as is by mysqldump but considered invalid when reloaded, leading to backup/restore problems. As of MySQL 5.0.74, leap second values are returned with a time part that ends with :59:59. This means that a function such as NOW() can return the same value for two or three consecutive seconds during the leap second. It remains true that literal temporal values having a time part that ends with :59:60 or :59:61 are considered invalid. ** Affects: mysql-dfsg-5.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mysql-dfsg-5.0 (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #510177 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=510177 ** Also affects: mysql-dfsg-5.0 (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=510177 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- mysql versions prior to 5.0.74 have trouble export/import with leap seconds https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312345 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
Re: [Bug 246322] Re: nis package must provide DHCP client scripts
Mark Brown wrote: It's not quite that simple - people use NIS on computers which move between networks, such as laptops, and run multiple NIS domains on the same network (which means that any DHCP configuration will only apply to some systems). This makes it difficult to tell if the configuration on the network applies to the current system. Dhpc can send options to the client depending upon its mac address, its subnet, etc. Configuring multiple nis domains via dhcp would be easy. About hibernate and moving your laptop from one network to another: These special cases were never considered for either dhcp nor nis, when these services were specified. I would suggest to start with the regular operations for nis and dhcp, and to look at hibernate support later. Keep it simple. It is still Unix. Like I say, enabling DHCP support on systems where it was not previously enabled is not going to happen: the systems already work so any risk of breaking them is unacceptable, which means that this can't be enabled for upgrades. As I have said, it may be OK to default this on for new installs but never for old installs. Agreed. I thought you were talking about (version) upgrades in general. A one-time confirmation dialog is surely OK. Something which overwrites the configuration unconditionally wouldn't be good enough - this would prevent use of any manual configuration and would doubtless lead to users having their configuration destroyed. [Bug 312090] [NEW] Offer 24-hour or AM/PM time format configuration
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: base-installer Ask during installation for 24-hour or AM/PM time format. Many people use en_US.UTF-8 settings for keyboard et cetera but within this group, many people would like 24-hours time display in their applications. For beginners, it is too difficult to make this setting by adding this line: LC_TIME=nl_NL.UTF-8 to this file: /etc/default/locale The nl_NL can be derived from the time zone, when a user would like 24-hour display in stead of AM/PM. User should be told via help text that this configuration, setting time format to Dutch (or whatever) or English, is regading 24-hours and AM/PM display. I agree totally with Wirawan. This bug, though small, is very serious. 2Don, I think the priority of interrupt handling is not the problem, the race conditions are. I've never had this problem on single-core CPU. Unloading most of ACPI stuff will solve the problem, however this is a nasty solution (I've laptop and use events of ac/battery for energy profile changes). It might be also the problem of keyboard itself, the firmware that acts odd... In windows I get shift/ctrl/alt stuck every 2-3 hour, especially if Firefox + Zend studio are loaded. Wit the latest patches (auto- install 2-3 weeks ago) the problem is now appearing even more frequent. Anyway this proves that keyboard is handled differently in Windows and Linux, I've never seen repeating keys (missing ordinary key release) in Windows and stuck control keys (missing shift/ctrl/alt key release) in Linux. [Bug 312103] [NEW] ati radeon x200 not working intrepid
Public bug reported: I have a HP a1250n computer, with 2gb ram and a dedicated 250gb hard driver for ubuntu, dual booting with Vista. This is a brand new install of Intrepid, not an upgrade. I have used Envy in the past (Hardy install), and it worked fine. But now I have tried all of the methods I could find, EnvyNG, the Restricted drivers in the repository and the Catalyst driver directly from ATI, not of them work. And I don't know for what reasons, all of them seem different. The first thing I did, was try the restricted driver as Intrepid said there was one for my computer. When I rebooted, the logon screen was a mess, could not see anything. So I did a CTL ALT f1 to login to the console and did an apt-get install envyng-core. That installed fine, but after running envyng -t and rebooting, the same thing happened on the logon screen. So I again did the CTL ALT f1 and did the envyng --uninstall-all and rebooted. This time there was a dialog saying that there was some problem with the driver and that the system would boot in low-graphics mode. And there were some options to continue in low- graphics mode, one for configure and one for troubleshoot. I tried each one of them, but still nothing good happened. After that, I went to the ubuntu forums and saw that ATI has catalyst drivers out for this card, so I tried to install those using the method they say in their document. Again, no joy. So it is obvious I am missing something, but not sure what it is. Envy worked for me in Hardy, but not now. The other methods are new to Intrepid (as far as I know), and they don't work either. [Bug 298707] Re: wacom tablet stylus input jumps to next screen prematurely in dual monitor set-up
Have the same behavior in Kubuntu 8.10 Started with a clean X11 file (instead of copying my old one from prevous linuxes), and modified it for my dual screen setup (19 monitor and rotated 15 monitor). Tablet appeared to work out of the box without having anything about the tablet in Xorg.conf. Even pressure sensitivity works. However, the tablet uses 2/3 of my 19 screen, and 1/3 of my 15 screen. When I move my mouse to the right in my big screen, it jumps to the other screen. When using it in the Gimp, some strange thing happens which might give a clue to what is wrong: I've configured the tablet to act relative to screen. When I paint, and drag my pen to the right, the paint cursor in the gimp moves faster to the right than the curser on the screen. The further to the right I get, the more difference there is. It appears that the Gimp uses the absolute position and the desktop width and height (2048X1024), where the x11 cursor places the cursor only on the used part of the screen. In the zip file I have a picture of my screen layout, my xorg.conf and my lspci output. I hope you can solve this bug. ** Attachment added: A zipfile containing: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20793057/wacomissue.zip -- wacom tablet stylus input jumps to next screen prematurely in dual monitor set-up https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298707 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 291138] Re: Fonts degraded in bzflag when windows effects are on.
Dear Bryce, right now, I don't want to test experimental packages in my system because at present it works and I'm afraid they could break it. I know by experience that updates are a delicate point in linux distributions. For this reason, I tried Jaunty alpha-2 on the akoya medion mini (msi wind clone). Unfortunately, there was no 3D acceleration at all, even though the logs showed no errors related to the DRI module. Therefore, I will wait for a more mature version of Jaunty. I hope the bug is still open by then. Otherwise, I will file it again. Anyway, thank you very much for your effort! Yours, J. [Bug 312124] [NEW] no sound with Intel HDA 82801G on Ubutun 8.10 (Toshiba Tecra laptop)
Public bug reported: Hello, There is no sound on my Toshiba Tecra laptop with Ubutu 8.10. The sound card is listed in lspci as 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) but it is not seen by applications using sound. Alsa doesn't seem to see it. Attached are my lspci file. It seems that ubutu doesn't load the appropriate module at boot. Furthermore, loading by hand snd-hda-intel seems to do the trick at first, and a sound card is visible, but no sound comes out. [Bug 312126] [NEW] Custom browser does not receive URL at %s
Public bug reported: I have used the Preferred Applications dialog to set up a custom browser function, so that I can tell firefox to open the URL in a new tab in a particular profile (I always have two firefox instances open with different profiles): firefox -P default -remote openurl(%s, new-tab) I can verify this has been set using gconftool --get /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command However, when I try and open a URL it fails. On investigation, running gnome-open http://google.com/ runs firefox -P default -remote openurl(, new-tab) http://google.com/ So basically rather than replacing the %s with the URL, it removes the %s and appends the URL ** Affects: xdg-utils Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libgnome (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Custom browser does not receive URL at %s https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
