2009-04-21 Thread Thierry Carrez
Hi, my share public is in my home directory : /home/rems14/Public.

I know that. Could you test sharing *a directory in a subdirectory of
your home directory* (for example, sharing /home/rems14/shares/Public).
There were some issues in the past about sharing something directly
under your home directory, I want to make sure it's not the same bug.

[Bug 364531] [NEW] Incredibly painful Jaunty upgrade

2009-04-21 Thread Lionel Dricot
Public bug reported:

I'm upgrading my server from Intrepid to Jaunty. Straight upgrade,
nothing fancy. It should just work.

Note : etckeeper was misconfigured and I ctrl+c the first upgrade
attempt. It's the only bad thing I did (and I should be allowed to do
so).

Then, the whole upgrade failed on slapd because :

Setting up slapd (2.4.15-1ubuntu3) ...
  Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.conf in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1...
done.
Moving old database directories to /var/backups:

  Backup path /var/backups/dc=ploum,dc=net-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1.ldapdb exists.
Giving up...
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):

Ok, I removed the backup (and I have to remove it at each attempt ! This is an
incridibly stupid upgrade script)

Setting up slapd (2.4.15-1ubuntu3) ...
  Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.conf in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1...
done.
Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
  - directory dc=ploum,dc=net... done.
  Loading from /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1:
Directory /var/lib/ldap for dc=ploum,dc=net not empty, aborting.
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):

WTF ? I then emptied the folder by hand (I of course keep a backup)

Setting up slapd (2.4.15-1ubuntu3) ...
  Backing up /etc/ldap/slapd.conf in /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1...
done.
Moving old database directories to /var/backups:
  - directory dc=ploum,dc=net... done.
  Loading from /var/backups/slapd-2.4.11-0ubuntu6.1:
  - directory dc=ploum,dc=net... failed.

Loading the database from the LDIF dump failed with the following
error while running slapadd:
ldif_read_file: Not a directory for /etc/ldap/slapd.conf/cn=config.ldif
slapadd: bad configuration directory!
dpkg: error processing slapd (--configure):

Ok, Now I'm there, stuck in the middle of the upgrade not understanding what to
do and, more importantly, what that script want to do.

As I have a relatively simple ldap setup, I think the upgrade could be
crazy for more complex stuffs.

What release / architechure are you using?
   (cat /etc/lsb-release);(uname -a)
What version of php5-imagick has just got installed?
   (dpkg -l php5-imagick)
What error do you now get exactly?

I have been quite successful in installing php5-imagick on ubuntu

It would seem you have the 'hardy' version of the php5-imagick package,
2.0.1-1 which has the bug. (It was linked with libWand.so.9 version).

The 'hardy-updates' version of php5-imagick (** 2.0.1-1ubuntu0.1 **)
depends upon 'libmagick10' and does not appear to have this problem.

I.e. it would appear you have the old un-fixed version of the package!!
See:-
   http://packages.ubuntu.com/php5-imagick

If you look in your /etc/apt/sources.list file you may be missing
   hardy-updates...

My Hardy8.04 machine has this in /etc/apt/sources/list:-

deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy main universe
deb-src http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy main universe
deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ hardy-updates main universe

[Bug 306678] Re: open-iscsi fails to correctly update rc.d on intrepid - jaunty upgrade

2009-04-21 Thread Steve Langasek
This looks like it would have been entirely appropriate for a freeze
exception; unfortunately since there was no package in the queue for
consideration, this has slipped past the point where it could be
accepted without forcing ISO respins and re-testing, and I don't think
we can justify respinning DVDs and server CDs for just this change since
it appears to be upgrade-only.

This is, however, a prime candidate for SRU, which could be started
immediately so that it's available at or shortly after release.

  following page:

  http://pbskids.org/curiousgeorge/games/snapshot/snapshot.html

Note: I don't try to print using the typical browser print; rather, the
Flash application has a red print button that you can use to print that
pops open a slightly print dialogue that is slightly different than the
typical browser print dialogue. On it you can only choose the printer
and the page print range. After clicking the print button there, the
print job never goes to the queue, and so it never prints. So, maybe
this is a bug related to the Flash print dialogue?

[Bug 364438] Re: gedit Spell Checker plugin prints line under misspelled words

2009-04-21 Thread TheMiddleMan
ok, heres how to reproduce it:

1. open gedit and type some jibberish
2. go to tools Autocheck Spelling and select it, the jibberish should be
underlined
3. go to file print and choose a printer, to a file is fine
4. the word is still underlined on the printed document

I've attached a screenshot that shows the document, with Autocheck
Spelling on, and the printed pdf below it.

[Bug 364694] [NEW] Kernel crash if resume is initiated immediately after suspend completes

2009-04-21 Thread Mackenzie Morgan
Public bug reported:

I'm reporting this while running one of Daniel Chen's kernels only
because this is the first time I've gotten a stacktrace while my camera
was nearby. This is reproducible on official Hardy and Jaunty kernels.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Suspend
2. Immediately after power LEDs start flashing fan stops, hit the spacebar to
resume
3. Crash

As far as I can remember, this crash happens every time I do that
(usually close lid, oh wait I forgot!, hit spacebar, crash), but I'll
play around and see if it really is 100% of the time. I've mostly
learned not to do that. If I wait a few seconds after the suspend
completes, it resumes just fine, but if it's within a second of suspend
completing, it'll crash.

[Bug 364692] [NEW] partitioning step on Ubuntu-MID is too large for screen

2009-04-21 Thread Paul Larson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Testing on an Eee900 with daily snapshot of 9.04, when I get to the
prepare disk space step on install, I cannot see the buttons at the
bottom for quit/back/forward. On the other screens during install, I
was able to see everything, just this one seems to be a problem. I do
not have a large number of drives that could be causing the window to be
much larger than it should be, just a single ssd drive.

[Bug 364697] [NEW] Evince is very sloaw to load a file + 100%CPU

2009-04-21 Thread Nathan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

When I try to open this file:
http://webh01.ua.ac.be/roosters/examenroosters_2de_semester/EXA2INF1.pdf it
takes 17 seconds before I see the file (exclusive download). Although it is
only one page with not much on it (on windows with adobe reader it takes less
than one second (another computer, tested by another user)).
When I zoom in the page it takes also a few seconds before everything is
redrawn.

My processor is intel core 2 duo, and while loading it uses one CPU for
100%.

I'm using up to date jaunty (evince 2.26.0-0ubuntu1, poppler
0.10.5-1ubuntu2)

Clearly this is a performance problem somewhere in the evince stack (evince,
poppler, cairo?, ...)

[Bug 362861] Re: Java6-plugin hangs firefox - not confirmed

2009-04-21 Thread Alexander Sack
Brian, having all dbg packages in the repo consumes space on all of our
mirrors that can better be used differently. Hence we moved them to a
separate space; also we autogenerate them. Anyway, there were issues for
firefox in particular (not relevant for jaunty atm), so we will move
back to the old -dbg approach for xulrunner 1.9.1/1.9.2 and ffox 3.5/3.6

[Bug 364673] Re: GNOME fails to start on jax10 when installed onto a single SSD drive

2009-04-21 Thread Michael Casadevall
** Changed in: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided = Medium

** Package changed: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) = debian-installer (Ubuntu)

** Summary changed:

- GNOME fails to start on jax10 when installed onto a single SSD drive
+ Installer fails to prompt when there isn't enough space to do a full
installation.

** Description changed:

During installer testing of the lpia alternate CD, GNOME fails to start.
This is likely because there is very little free space at the end of
installation, very little free space is available. The Use Entire Disk
option on the jax10 uses one of the two SSDs (which are 2GiB in size),
and creates a 1.8GiB partition. The default install eats 1.7GiB. This
issue disappears if LVM is used to bridge the two SSDs into a single
root partition, and then Ubuntu is installed onto that.
+
+ As this configuration is less that the bare bones mini. requirements,
+ the installer should at least prompt in such a case and provide warning
+ that manual partitioning or something may be necessary.

[Bug 360343] Re: Network Manager not giving 3G Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband enough time to initialize in Jaunty

2009-04-21 Thread Alexander Sack
Jerone, you are correct and that is a known issue. However, thats
fixable once we have modemmanager because the module really needs this
minute just for the very first connect after changing the SIM. after
that - if done properly - even after powercycling the module will
connect faster.

Anyway. so we should tune this to 1 minute - ouch. maybe we can special
case this for certain devices.

[Bug 364699] [NEW] IR doesn`t work (lirc_igorplugusb)

2009-04-21 Thread Denis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lirc

Hi, I have IgorPlug-USB(AVR) receiver, it works on Windows fine with 4-5
transmitters I have tested.

I have installed generic Jaunty (Intrepid, some other custom kernels.. with no
luck too).
I have Installed lirc package and chose from the list Igor Cesko USB receiver.

On boot I see that appropriate kernel module loaded without errors:
$ dmesg | grep lirc
[ 21.824130] lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, major 61
[ 21.868206] lirc_igorplugusb: USB remote driver for LIRC v0.1
[ 21.868218] lirc_igorplugusb: Jan M. Hochstein
hochst...@algo.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de
[ 21.944392] lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 100
[ 21.993818] lirc_igorplugusb[3]: Ing. Igor Cesko, Copyright(c) 2003
IgorPlug-USB (AVR) on usb3:3
[ 21.997883] usbcore: registered new interface driver lirc_igorplugusb

So I run irw utility to test the system and press buttons on transmitter, irw
gives no output instead of received characters.
$ irw

In dmesg output I see buffer overrun error on each keypress:
$ dmesg | grep lirc
[ 21.824130] lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, major 61
[ 21.868206] lirc_igorplugusb: USB remote driver for LIRC v0.1
[ 21.868218] lirc_igorplugusb: Jan M. Hochstein
hochst...@algo.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de
[ 21.944392] lirc_dev: lirc_register_plugin: sample_rate: 100
[ 21.993818] lirc_igorplugusb[3]: Ing. Igor Cesko, Copyright(c) 2003
IgorPlug-USB (AVR) on usb3:3
[ 21.997883] usbcore: registered new interface driver lirc_igorplugusb
[ 165.356078] lirc_igorplugusb[3]: Device buffer overrun.
[ 165.700094] lirc_igorplugusb[3]: Device buffer overrun.

The same story with all transmitters I tested. All of them work in
Windows. I think the problem is in lirc_igorplugusb kernel module,
almost the same code in all distributions.

I have now skills in IR technology so.. reported this bug to you. Any
help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Denis

[Bug 335307] Re: Crimean Tatar (Crimean Turkish) locale (crh) is not shown in gdm languages list, even if language support for crh is added

2009-04-21 Thread Reşat SABIQ
I understand that chances of this bug being treated as a very high-
priority showstopper bug are not very high, and it may indeed be too
late to address this in jaunty, but would still like to try and bring
this to the attention of ubuntu-release team for a freeze exception
evaluation.

I've seen similar bugs logged for Asturian, and Yoruba, although i do
not know whether they've since already been resolved.

1. Description of the proposed changes:
1.1. adding 1 or more locales currently excluded from gdm to
gdm-2.20.10/config/locale.alias
(or an external file maintained by i18n team, if any).
1.2. re-building and releasing a new version of gdm.
2. A rationale for the exception, explaining the benefit of the change:
language(s) currently not listed in gdm languages list even after support for
them has been added, would then be listed in gdm languages list.
3. Any additional information: this should not be a risky update to make,
because it doesn't change any functionality, only adding 1 or more languages to
the existing gdm languages list, only affecting and benefiting the people who
will add language support for those locales.

If it is too late for initial jaunty release, i would like to request an
evaluation of this being fixed in a stable release update (ubuntu-sru).

Thanks.

those files/packages again and install flashplugin-nonfree (or in jaunty
flashplugin-installer) again. Your problem is that you are using swfdec.
Remove swfdec-mozilla package from your system:

 sudo apt-get remove --purge swfdec-mozilla
 sudo apt-get install --reinstall flashplugin-nonfree

and ensure that the npwrapper. for libflashplugin.so is selected by running:
 sudo update-alternatives --config xulrunner-addons-flashplugin

** Changed in: flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu)
