[Bug 345234] Re: Network interfaces names changed in KVM guest cloned with virt-clone
I'm experiencing the same thing here. The host runs Ubuntu 9.10 server, the guest as well. I think this bug results from the fact that virt-clone changes the MAC address of the quest. If I remember correctly debian-based distributions change the name of a network interface if they detect a new MAC address. ** Changed in: kvm (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- Network interfaces names changed in KVM guest cloned with virt-clone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 345234] Re: Network interfaces names changed in KVM guest cloned with virt-clone
I found this thread on the Ubuntu forums that also discusses this problem (in combination with VMware, but that's beside the point, since this happens whenever an ubuntu/debian system is cloned): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1045715 There are several solutions to this bug: - Simply delete /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules either before or after the cloning, or edit the file after cloning. - Remove execute permissions from /lib//udev/write_net_rules, but that results in an error on startup - Edit /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules so that it ignores MAC addresses from VMware or KVM. For Xen such a line already exists: # ignore Xen virtual interfaces SUBSYSTEMS==xen, GOTO=persistent_net_generator_end From the forum post above, add the following for VMware # ignore VMware network interfaces identified by vendor part of MAC addr ENV{MATCHADDR}==00:0c:29:*, GOTO=persistent_net_generator_end For KVM and virt-clone I added these: # ignore KVM virtual interfaces ENV{MATCHADDR}==52:54:00:*, GOTO=persistent_net_generator_end # This eems to be the range used by Xen, but also by virt-clone ENV{MATCHADDR}==00:16:36:*, GOTO=persistent_net_generator_end Make sure these lines are after the following lines: # read MAC address ENV{MATCHADDR}=$attr{address} This worked for me. -- Network interfaces names changed in KVM guest cloned with virt-clone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345234 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Neil, thanks for looking. No, the problem didn't reproduce after the fresh install and aptitude update. Shares-admin works now so the problem can be closed as written however that's done. [Bug 494552] Re: Cannot unmount SMB share after connection goes down.
Stavros: I can recreate the bug so I am marking it confirmed. You should still post the required information listed in my previous post. The bug is reproducible by opening a streaming file (such as music or a video) on a samba share then attempting to unmount the share while the file is still open. I had to right-click on the share icon found on the desktop and click 'unmount' 2 or 3 times and the error message appeared after 60-120 seconds. The error message is simply saying we attempted to unmount but the server is not allowing us to close the connection. My personal solution would be to find the thread holding the file open and terminate it but that could have many unintended consequences if this process were automated. Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work, I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here. Re: [Bug 214727] Re: mplayer should be in universe
Julien Lavergne julien.laver...@gmail.com writes: - libmp3lame-dev - libxvidcore4-dev I believe that both can be promoted to universe. libfaac should probably removed from ubuntu. There is still the patent problem which prevent those packages to go into universe since the beginning of Ubuntu. And I'm not aware of any progress on this, but I can be wrong (I hope :) ) What patent problem? See http://wiki.ubuntu.com/PatentPolicy for the updated policy ubuntu has on patents. please note that x264 is already in universe, so patents shouldn't be the problem for libxvidcore4-dev. lame could need further investigation, though. -- Gruesse/greetings, Reinhard Tartler, KeyID 945348A4 -- mplayer should be in universe https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214727 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Apparently PIL saves PGM internally as PPM unless you convert the image to grayscale first. Add proper check for format to fix the issue (perhaps to imtools save?). [Bug 495790] [NEW] cover art plugin partially working
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox I'm not sure it is really a new one, but looking at the bugs list there was always something different the version or slightly the description. So, if it is a duplication, sorry. Ubuntu 9.04 Rhythmbox 0.12.0-0ubuntu4 Cover Art plugin 1) The cover fetching is not working, the searching... message stays forever. However, the drop option is fine. 2) The configure button is not available (not highlighted), I do not know if this is normal. [Bug 493727] Re: date('Y') returns 0000 on big endian machines
For what it's worth, I fixed the bug on my own PPC system by doing the following: # install stuff needed to build PHP5: apt-get install dpkg-dev build-essential apt-get build-dep php5 # download the sources: cd /usr/src apt-get source php5 #Now apply the diff from: http://forums.matrix.squiz.net/index.php?showtopic=6607 # recompile PHP5: cd php5-5.2.10.dfsg.1 dpkg-buildpackage -uc -b # manually install the deb files onto your system, choose all the packages you had installed before: cd .. dpkg -i php5_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_all.deb php5-common_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb libapache2-mod-php5_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-cli_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-curl_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-dev_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-gd_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-mhash_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-mysql_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-recode_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-sqlite_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb php5-xsl_5.2.10.dfsg.1-2ubuntu6.3_powerpc.deb I'm not Ubuntu packaging expert so I'm probably not doing it the right way. Also, because I didn't change the version number (I don't know how) the update mechanism might try to overwrite it with the old buggy version. -- date('Y') returns on big endian machines https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/493727 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 476154] Re: Stack trace on console, can not do clean shutdown
Hello, thx all for the update, it solves the issue of suspend/resume cycle with b43 too. I was forced to manually rmmod/modprobe the b43 module if I wanted to suspend/resume my mac. Somehow I still need to do it, because AFTER a resume the b43 module, even if loaded (lsmod) is not working. I need to manually unload and reload b43 to have the wifi waked up. Piclemonkey: We do not support thunderbird-3.0 yet. not sure wher eyou got 3.0 from but if it was from mozilla you need a thunderbird-3.0-gnome-support package.
