[Bug 527890] Re: ALPS touchpad in HP Mini 311 not configurable/recognized as a touchpad

2010-04-21 Thread Dan Andreșan
@FreeAtMind,

HP acquired Compaq a couple of years ago.
In some countries (in Europe?) HP Mini 311 is sold as Compaq Mini 311.

The differences in harddisk, memory, OS appear from the second part:
1010SP, 1025NR, 1000NR, etc.

The touchpad I guess is the same for every HP/Compaq Mini 311

P.S. I don't know about the little c at the end (311c)

[Bug 567699] Re: Ensure nvidia package works in future for PAE kernel installs

2010-04-21 Thread Emmet Hikory
There are N flavours of kernel headers available, and adding one more
won't help. The linux-headers virtual package is satisfied by the
headers for each linux flavour. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee
that the linux headers for the running kernel (or the expected-to-be-
running-kernel) are available at install time.

If this is a bug, the bug is in *all* DKMS-using packages in that they
ought detect whether the running kernel matches the available kernel
headers, and if not, warn the user and offer to install matching kernel
headers.

[Bug 567699] Re: Ensure nvidia package works in future for PAE kernel installs

2010-04-21 Thread Martin Pitt
I don't see how this would help at all? All kernel-headers-* flavours
have a Provides: linux-headers.

Unfortunately this is a highly nontrivial problem. There is no way to
express we need the same kernel header flavour as the installed kernel
in terms of package dependencies. The only thing that we could do is to
check the match in dkms and/or jockey and offer to install the
corresponding kernel headers.

[Bug 536673] Re: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_hardware()

2010-04-21 Thread Colin Watson
Irihapeti, could you try the same thing but run the installer with
'ubiquity -d' from a terminal window? It looks as though the debconf
protocol is getting out of sync, and that debug mode should give us a
full trace in /var/log/installer/debug.

[Bug 536673] Re: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_hardware()

2010-04-21 Thread Evan Dandrea
Irihapeti,

Could I trouble you to run the installer again? Select the Try Ubuntu
option to bring you to a desktop, then hit alt-f2 and type `ubiquity
-d`. This will run the installer in debug mode. When it crashes, type
`apport-collect 536673` as you did before.

Thanks!

[Bug 214727] Re: mplayer should be in universe

2010-04-21 Thread Timo Jyrinki
 - libfaac-dev (see also bug #374900)

Mplayer nowadays at least depends on libfaad-dev instead, which is in
universe.

 - libxvidcore4-dev

This is in universe nowadays as well.

 - libmp3lame-dev

This is the only remaining dependency problem AFAIK (checking what gets
installed with apt-get build-dep mplayer) for moving mplayer to
universe.

[Bug 136303] Re: Thunderbird doesn't open http link in firefox

2010-04-21 Thread Richard Gunn
I'm currently using Karmic (upgraded from Intrepid then Jaunty).

Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 / Firefox 3.5.9

Thunderbird WILL launch links with Opera and Midori but not Firefox.

I tested this by adding the following user prefs to Thunderbird:

network.protocol-handler.app.http = /usr/bin/opera
network.protocol-handler.app.https = /usr/bin/opera

and then amending to:

network.protocol-handler.app.http = /usr/bin/midori
network.protocol-handler.app.https = /usr/bin/midori

After spending a couple of hours looking into this, the root of my
problem turned out to be caused by Thunderbird setting the environment
variable LD_PRELOAD=libpulsedsp.so before calling Firefox, which would
then silently fail.

As a workaround, I created a custom Firefox launch script to unset this
variable first.

Create a file /usr/local/bin/firefox-launcher

---
#!/bin/bash
unset LD_PRELOAD
/usr/bin/firefox $1
---
Make it executable.

Ensure that Thunderbird has the following config settings:
network.protocol-handler.app.http = /usr/local/bin/firefox-launcher
network.protocol-handler.app.https = /usr/local/bin/firefox-launcher

Thunderbird should now open links with Firefox.

[Bug 567819] Re: Please remove xulrunner-1.9.1 source, binaries and remaining rdepends from Lucid

2010-04-21 Thread Chris Coulson
** Description changed:

  See:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopTeam/Specs/Lucid/FirefoxNewSupportModel/

https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/desktop-lucid-new-firefox-support-model
+
+ sugar-hulahop depends on python-xpcom, which was removed from xulrunner
+ in 1.9.2 and distributed separately. There's a chance that we will

[Bug 566046] Re: the login password is stored in the user's keyring

2010-04-21 Thread Martin Pitt
I have a patch to stop the password from being added to the keyring, and
also to remove it on upgrades. I sent it to upstream, but it's probably
not an approach which upstream likes. Also, this most probably breaks
this ominous user.keystore. I don't see how to use it in the first
place, I contacted upstream (Stef) by email to clear this.

[Bug 562811] Re: [Lucid] fsck cannot be cancelled in Plymouth

2010-04-21 Thread Steve Langasek
ok, after tracing back and forth, I think ti's a plymouth bug after all.

The problem appears to be in ply_boot_client_process_incoming_replies -
whenever it receives data from the server, it calls
ply_list_get_first_node (client-requests_waiting_for_replies) and passes the
returned data to this client requetor. This means that if
watch_for_keystroke() is called, and then another request is made that
generates a reply, the keystroke handler gets the reply to the *next* request,
discards it as Received odd keys foo, and never gets the real keypress when
it happens!

So I guess our requests_waiting_for_replies list needs to be tagged with
the type of reply each one is expecting; the responses will be FIFO
within each class, but may be out of order wrt responses of other types.

And the reason other keys aren't missed (for 'skip' or 'maintenance
shell') is that only during fsck do we send more messages to plymouth
after setting a key watch.

Scott, given this, I'm not sure why it *wasn't* reproducible for you...
am I overlooking something?

** Package changed: mountall (Ubuntu) = plymouth (Ubuntu)

[Bug 261685] Re: HAL entries for iRiver E100

2010-04-21 Thread JohnyN
Hello, I'm experiencing this bug again since karmic. It's same in Lucid Beta 2.
Ubuntu won't mount iRivier E100 internal or external memory automatically.
However, mounting by:
#mount -t vfat /dev/iriver_device /media/mount_point
is successful.

Current firmware on my iriver: 1.16
Thanks for help

[Bug 566046] Re: the login password is stored in the user's keyring

2010-04-21 Thread Martin Pitt
@security team: This is not _such_ a big deal IMHO, since the password
is encrypted on disk, and can only be retrieved if the user is already
logged in (at which point all the wifi passphrases, empathy accounts,
and everything else stored in the keyring is also accessible). Thus it
seems prudent to leave this to an SRU, until it's fully cleared with
upstream. What's your feeling about this?

Thanks!

[Bug 567828] [NEW] Blender 2.49b and 2.50 alpha2 UI rendering artefacts

2010-04-21 Thread Petar Velkovski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

The default Intel driver used in Lucid is having some rendering problems
in openGL applications. They can be easily noticed if you start Blender
2.49b or Blender 2.50 alpha2 downloaded from the main Blender website.

I've been using Intel 2.9.1 driver from xorg-edgers when it was present
there when I was using Karmic and I don't remember having such problems
then and there.

[Bug 567827] [NEW] wireless kill switch works incorrect.

2010-04-21 Thread Serghei Zagorinyak
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 9.10
I have a hp6735b laptop with wi-fi/bluetooth Broadcom BCM4322 module installed.
The wireless kill switch can only turn wi-fi off, but not on, so I have to
reboot every time I turn it off.
If the system boots with killswitch off, the wireless module is not listed in
lspci and cant be turned on. Have to boot with wireless on already.
If I boot with killswitch on, the device works, but when I try to disable it,
wi-fi is still listed as working, thow it actually stops and can`t be turned on
again until reboot.
The bluetooth works fine, though controlled with the same button.

having to wade through the old bug for logs :-)

[Bug 567752] Re: Creating new account: display imap problem

2010-04-21 Thread Mathieu Trudel
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Lucid Lynx. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of
Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your
help.

This bug will be automatically closed once the source package is
accepted; it will probably then take a couple of hours to build and
publish, and the next daily build after that should contain it. I
expect this to be no earlier than Friday, possibly Saturday, as we're
currently frozen for the RC.

[Bug 567835] [NEW] Gnome theme switches unprovoked

2010-04-21 Thread Jeff Van Epps
Public bug reported:

Left system logged in overnight, in the morning the network icon had
switched from an image of the jack to two computers, the upper right
corner had switched from red power button to green running man, window
title bars were gray, and every running program was suddenly using a
different font (larger). This has happened twice in the past 3 months. I
do normally leave myself logged in permanently, and don't do anything
unusual with the theme, although I do run a program to switch the
wallpaper every 10 minutes. Ubuntu 9.10.
