[Bug 567699] Re: Ensure nvidia package works in future for PAE kernel installs
There are N flavours of kernel headers available, and adding one more won't help. The linux-headers virtual package is satisfied by the headers for each linux flavour. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the linux headers for the running kernel (or the expected-to-be- running-kernel) are available at install time. If this is a bug, the bug is in *all* DKMS-using packages in that they ought detect whether the running kernel matches the available kernel headers, and if not, warn the user and offer to install matching kernel headers. -- Ensure nvidia package works in future for PAE kernel installs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/567699 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 567699] Re: Ensure nvidia package works in future for PAE kernel installs
I don't see how this would help at all? All kernel-headers-* flavours have a Provides: linux-headers. Unfortunately this is a highly nontrivial problem. There is no way to express we need the same kernel header flavour as the installed kernel in terms of package dependencies. The only thing that we could do is to check the match in dkms and/or jockey and offer to install the corresponding kernel headers. -- Ensure nvidia package works in future for PAE kernel installs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/567699 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 136303] Re: Thunderbird doesn't open http link in firefox
I'm currently using Karmic (upgraded from Intrepid then Jaunty). Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 / Firefox 3.5.9 Thunderbird WILL launch links with Opera and Midori but not Firefox. I tested this by adding the following user prefs to Thunderbird: network.protocol-handler.app.http = /usr/bin/opera network.protocol-handler.app.https = /usr/bin/opera and then amending to: network.protocol-handler.app.http = /usr/bin/midori network.protocol-handler.app.https = /usr/bin/midori After spending a couple of hours looking into this, the root of my problem turned out to be caused by Thunderbird setting the environment variable LD_PRELOAD=libpulsedsp.so before calling Firefox, which would then silently fail. As a workaround, I created a custom Firefox launch script to unset this variable first. Create a file /usr/local/bin/firefox-launcher --- #!/bin/bash unset LD_PRELOAD /usr/bin/firefox $1 --- Make it executable. Ensure that Thunderbird has the following config settings: network.protocol-handler.app.http = /usr/local/bin/firefox-launcher network.protocol-handler.app.https = /usr/local/bin/firefox-launcher Thunderbird should now open links with Firefox. -- Thunderbird doesn't open http link in firefox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136303 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have a patch to stop the password from being added to the keyring, and also to remove it on upgrades. I sent it to upstream, but it's probably not an approach which upstream likes. Also, this most probably breaks this ominous user.keystore. I don't see how to use it in the first place, I contacted upstream (Stef) by email to clear this. -- the login password is stored in the user's keyring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566046 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 562811] Re: [Lucid] fsck cannot be cancelled in Plymouth
ok, after tracing back and forth, I think ti's a plymouth bug after all. The problem appears to be in ply_boot_client_process_incoming_replies - whenever it receives data from the server, it calls ply_list_get_first_node (client-requests_waiting_for_replies) and passes the returned data to this client requetor. This means that if watch_for_keystroke() is called, and then another request is made that generates a reply, the keystroke handler gets the reply to the *next* request, discards it as Received odd keys foo, and never gets the real keypress when it happens! So I guess our requests_waiting_for_replies list needs to be tagged with the type of reply each one is expecting; the responses will be FIFO within each class, but may be out of order wrt responses of other types. And the reason other keys aren't missed (for 'skip' or 'maintenance shell') is that only during fsck do we send more messages to plymouth after setting a key watch. Scott, given this, I'm not sure why it *wasn't* reproducible for you... am I overlooking something? ** Package changed: mountall (Ubuntu) = plymouth (Ubuntu) -- [Lucid] fsck cannot be cancelled in Plymouth https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562811 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@security team: This is not _such_ a big deal IMHO, since the password is encrypted on disk, and can only be retrieved if the user is already logged in (at which point all the wifi passphrases, empathy accounts, and everything else stored in the keyring is also accessible). [Bug 567827] [NEW] wireless kill switch works incorrect.
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 9.10 I have a hp6735b laptop with wi-fi/bluetooth Broadcom BCM4322 module installed. The wireless kill switch can only turn wi-fi off, but not on, so I have to reboot every time I turn it off. If the system boots with killswitch off, the wireless module is not listed in lspci and cant be turned on. Have to boot with wireless on already. If I boot with killswitch on, the device works, but when I try to disable it, wi-fi is still listed as working, thow it actually stops and can`t be turned on again until reboot. [Bug 567835] [NEW] Gnome theme switches unprovoked
Public bug reported: Left system logged in overnight, in the morning the network icon had switched from an image of the jack to two computers, the upper right corner had switched from red power button to green running man, window title bars were gray, and every running program was suddenly using a different font (larger). This has happened twice in the past 3 months. I do normally leave myself logged in permanently, and don't do anything unusual with the theme, although I do run a program to switch the wallpaper every 10 minutes. Ubuntu 9.10.
