After some extensive tinkering, I came up with this solution to the rndc.key
permissions issue:
As the root user (or sudo) do the following:
cp /etc/bind/rndc.key /etc/dhcp3/
chown dhcp:dhcp /etc/dhcp3/rndc.key
chmod 640 /etc/dhcp3/rndc.key
In /etc/dhcp3/dhcpd.conf add this line:
include /etc/dhcp3/rndc.key;
chown root:bind /etc/bind/rndc.key
chmod 640 /etc/bind/rndc.key
In /etc/bind/named.conf add this line to the top of the file:
include /etc/bind/rndc.key;
In /etc/bind/named.conf add this line to the bottom of the file:
controls {
inet 127.0.0.1 port 953
allow { 127.0.0.1; } keys { rndc-key; };
};

I started having the same problem with postfix after upgrading from Maverick to Natty. I tried the suggestion of adding the port to my relayhost in main.cf and that fixed it, but is that a valid fix? It works for me without a port number, so the bug as written is incorrect. Port number is NOT required. This is experienced when setting up static addresses during the Ubuntu installation process. How to reproduce the issue: 1. Choose Install Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud 2. Instead of using dhcp settings configure static addresses for eth0 and leave the dns field blank 3. I have a Dell Mini 9 currently installing 11.04 i386 desktop from a USB flash disk. It had 10.10 on it. I booted from the flash disk, chose the Install option and the new (is it?) upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 option, got a little message to say I hadn't configured any swap, was returned to the partitioner, selected my previous swap partition to be used as swap, and then proceeded as usual. It had been showing the narwhals and the message Removing conflicting operating system files... for two hours or more. I Ctrl+Alt+F1, killed the last three (two processes + their parent, can't remember exact process details) ubiquity processes, got a 'cannot continue' dialogue, and elected to go through the install again from a desktop. This time I only got the 'Erase' and 'Something else' options. I chose the 'Something else' option, selected my existing / and swap partitions to be used without formatting. ... Time passes ... I'm almost certain this second time (no reboot, it's a follow-on from the Removing conflicting..., that I *un-checked* the 'download files' option early on in the install. I checked it the first time through. It's currently Retrieving file 9 of 30, which seems unexpected given the unchecked download option. It's also counting down seconds to zero for each file, which seems an odd thing to do. I also had issues booting Natty final 64bit Live CD on ATI Radeon HD3400. I get the boot menu, choose Try without installing and then, after some time, the screen freezes and the OS is unresponsive esponse to keyboard or mouse. Adding nomodeset to the boot line worked fine for me, the Live CD booted into Classic GNOME. After installing Natty onto the disk, no more tinkering of boot options was necessary, everything just worked fine after that in my case. Nautilus is not shown because it has NoDisplay=true in its .desktop file. Just like it is not shown in the Gnome menus.
