Re: [Bug 779512] [NEW] nut-2.6.0-1ubuntu3 behavior regression
2011/5/8 Mr. Muskrat 779...@bugs.launchpad.net Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nut Prior to upgrading to Natty, I had the nut-2.4.3-1ubuntu5 package and it was working correctly. right, but the fix made for the kind of devices you have (ie not fully complying to USB standards) broke other devices / features. the right fix would have to be in libusb, but since we're still on 0.1 (which is not maintained anymore), the solution may come from the port to libusb 1.0. After upgrading to Natty, I have the nut-2.6.0-1ubuntu3 package and it is not working correctly. Here's my release info: •[x4linux:~] mmusgrove $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.04 Release:11.04 The symptom is that it can't initialize data from HID UPS and so the driver fails to start. •[x4linux:~] mmusgrove $ sudo upsdrvctl start Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.6.0 Network UPS Tools - Generic HID driver 0.35 (2.6.0) USB communication driver 0.31 Using subdriver: CyberPower HID 0.3 libusb_get_report: No error Can't initialize data from HID UPS Driver failed to start (exit status=1) (...) could you please do the following test and send back the output: - first, stop nut - then export USB_DEBUG=3 - start the driver using sudo /lib/nut/usbhid-ups - -a upsname where upsname is the one from ups.conf. - the output of dpkg -l '*libusb*' would also be useful. cheers, Arnaud -- Linux / Unix Expert RD - Eaton - http://powerquality.eaton.com Network UPS Tools (NUT) Project Leader - http://www.networkupstools.org/ Debian Developer - http://www.debian.org Free Software Developer - http://arnaud.quette.free.fr/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nut in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779512 Title: nut-2.6.0-1ubuntu3 behavior regression -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I'm affected by this bug too. I recently upgraded my laptop from a Dell Latitude D380 running Lucid 64-bit to a Dell Latitude E6520 running Natty 64. [Bug 551130] Re: [SRU] infinite loop in /etc/init/mysql.conf if mysqld is not running.
I'll add comment here as it looks as though there is a regression, I tried to install mysql-server-5.1 today in Maverick, dpkg got stuck, then after some struggling I adjusted /etc/init/mysql.conf to start mysqld_save as -u mysql, good up to the stage of trying to connect; then needed to 'downgrade' the dpkg edit of /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld; files attached, working file is now called usr.sbin.mysqld, dpkg had saved it as usr.sbin.mysqld.dpkg-old; broken file is now called usr.sbin.mysqld.dpkg-new ** Attachment added: usr.sbin.mysqld.dpkg-new https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-dfsg-5.1/+bug/551130/+attachment/2121914/+files/usr.sbin.mysqld.dpkg-new -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.1 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/551130 Title: [SRU] infinite loop in /etc/init/mysql.conf if mysqld is not running. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 739469] Re: Dash search unavoidably returns offensive results
Simply implement a user scope blacklist (e.g. some regexpes in ~/.config/unity/blacklist). Every person can put everything he wants to this blacklist. The thing I wanted to point out is that, if you want to make everyone happy, you have to deliver empty repositories... An advantage of a config file instead of some dconf values is that you can share your blacklists easily with others. E.g. you can share a muslim blacklist, a atheist blacklist and so on. Every content blocking makes more persons unhappy than happy. I for myself want the dash to show all applications and i would be unhappy with each filter. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/739469 Title: Dash search unavoidably returns offensive results -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 777853] Re: Bugs assigned to new targets are easily missed (their default values sort at the end of bug lists)
** Description changed: Bugs for a specific package, may actually require fixes in another package as well to have a complete solution. This is a common task in certain subsystems (ie. compiz and unity tend to require pairs), as well as when a piece of plumbing is changed (set of projects needing recompiles, etc.). When a bug is assigned to another package (or project, series etc.) it starts off as being New and Undecided. These defaults, if unchanged, mean that the bug is effectively at the lowest possible priority for the new target. This makes it very easy for the bug to be ignored. If the person adding the new target does not *want* the bug to be ignored, they have to set the priority and status on the new task. This is a little fiddly, and often feels redundant, since the new priority that they would set is probably going to be the same as the priority of the existing task, and the status is going to be something predictable. One suggestion: for an existing bug # - to add a new product - inherit priority from existing product. - set status to confirmed by default (unless the existing product status is new). + to add a new package + inherit priority from existing package. + set status to confirmed by default (unless the existing package status is new). This will help with the consistency of the bug database and get the priorities closer to being right by default, which will help with prioritization by developers and managers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/777853 Title: Bugs assigned to new targets are easily missed (their default values sort at the end of bug lists) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 771633] Re: [Natty] Realtek ALC888 0x10ec0888 - mic not functional
Problem solved. What happened? I don't know. Puzzled with the fact that I was the only guy in Ubuntu Natty planet with a crashed sound, decided to give another try. This time, instead of zsync-inc my .iso sources from cdimage.ubuntu.com , zsync-ed from the actual Natty release in nearest mirror (it shouldn't make any difference since I started seriously testing Natty Beta just after the final release on April 28 - but, in fact, there was a slight difference, less than .5%). Then burned a USB stick from within the current and buggy Natty test install, instead of using the Maverick application . Booted from the USB stick in test Ubuntu mode, completely updated the stick from the standard source, checked the microphone and of course it didn't work. Opened alsamixer in a terminal screen, because of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/771739 - and enabled the rear mic - standard in my system. Tested the Sound Recorder again and voilà it works! This time without the serious distortions observed before. Installed Natty on HD again, (third or fourth time) now from this special stick, tested sound and it works, updated (almost 200 Mb in file updates up to now) and it works, installed Skype and it still works, enabled NVidia last video driver, rebooted and Unity is there, and I still don't like it but at least the sound works. What really happened? I really don't know, but somehow it is was magically solved. [Bug 641503] Re: Firefox address bar auto-complete fails
This is still present in FF 4.0.1 (Ubuntu 11.04, i386). In addition, this might be related to combo boxes being unresponsive to mouse clicks - i.e., clicking on a folder in the bookmarks toolbar does not open (drop down) the appropriate entry, or else the opened drop down list closes immediately when hit by the mouse pointer. At the same time, autocomplete ceases to work, until I minimize FF and restore it afterwards. After that, both autocomplete and opening combo boxes return to normal operation. [Bug 739469] Re: Dash search unavoidably returns offensive results
levu, I think you're creating a straw man. I refuse to believe emacs users are offended by the presence of vi in Software Center and I think if you were honest, you'd say that's ridiculous too. I know Christians and Muslims who use Ubuntu. I've never met anyone offended by the presence of Bible or Quran software in Ubuntu. Some might prefer not to see religious software but that's different than the porn button by trying to start a movie. I am not a religious fanatic but as the bug description says, there are numerous examples where not hiding illicit software can cause significant problems for Ubuntu and Ubuntu users. We should have a mature blacklist in Software Center for 11.10 (and not attempt to outright censor free software that happens to be controversial), and the blacklist should be enabled by default. I think dopewars should be on this blacklist too. While just a text- based game, the whole point is buying and drugs illegally in New York City. While I think US drug laws need dramatic reform, I don't think this is appropriate for the general Ubuntu audience. I only think there are a few apps that would be on this list. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/739469 Title: Dash search unavoidably returns offensive results -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It is about 3 days that the laptop works fine. So yes, I think it is ok to close the bug. Sorry for the noise. [Bug 779753] [NEW] T400 laptop. Freezes or mouse stutters. Kworker process using too much CPU.
